The availability of Bonus/hidden/B-side tracks.
I posted this a while ago on JPP, so I'm posting it here, too. You see, I've been struggling in the past few weeks to find a few bonus tracks and B-sides online, and I did.
So, yeah, why are the best songs ALWAYS released as bonuses or B-sides? Makes no sense to me, since you all know how good the bonus tracks and B-sides actually are.
-Do You Know Where You're Coming From;
-Funktion;
-Deeper Underground;
-So Good To Feel Real; (Hidden track on AFO. Comes up after a long period of silence after Picture Of My Life, found on every release.)
-Everybody's Going To The Moon;
-Do It Like We Used To Do;
-Time Won't Wait.
All of these songs are very hard to get, or are hidden on the albums. And that is what seriously bites me, since the bonus tracks are excellent songs, yet they're not avaliable to most of the people.
So yeah, where's the point in making excellent songs rarities, even though they easily CAN become avaliable to the masses, and boost the release's score? I myself would release a compilation (Which will be available to the masses) of B-sides and bonus tracks, if I was in Jay's shoes. That would be Jamilicious (At least to me...). |

Interesting idea!
I know that jamiroquai haven't made an official relaese of it.
So somebody should pass it on to Jay himself so it could be materialized.. _________________ yummy, yummy, yummy, I got jamiroquai in my tummy... |

In fairness, most of the ones you've listed aren't AMAZINGLY hard to track down, if you go on eBay or wherever... other than maybe 'Everybody's Going To The Moon', which I've not seen on any official Jami releases.
Noe's mum's got a pirate copy of Dynamite, for instance, that has TWW on it. They may only officially be included on our versions (UK), but they're still gettable elsewhere (or online!).
That being said, they SHOULD do an official release of them, I agree totally on that one.

EGTTM can be found on the australian limited edition release of AFO. Here's the Discogs link to it if you need more info:
http://www.discogs.com/release/261174
Worthy of gettin', but I still prefer the previously mentioned compilation.

That's exactly what I meant Sam!
If they don't compile it into an album then these gems will just be 'loose'
Good to know someone else agrees... _________________ yummy, yummy, yummy, I got jamiroquai in my tummy...

Everybody's Going to the Moon is on my Australian Funk Odyessy Bonus Disc.
oops sorry I see someone already found this.
well 'Getinfunky' is on the Synkronized Japanese version
i think www.funkin.net/music is the best place for finding out where all of these come from

Yeah, I've got EGTTM on a 'pirate' Jami compilation CD my best made me a few years ago. The number of different releases Sony seem to come out with for all the Australian albums is just terrifying, and I'd frankly never spend money on that out of principle. They're only trying to get more money out of us by re-releasing stuff so quickly (like the Dual Disc Dynamite release, less than 6 months after it was out on CD!), and frankly I think you have to be a mug to encourage them.
That being said, once the contract's out after the Greatest Hits, who knows what the legal situation will be regarding the B-sides, or indeed any future compilations on their new label of stuff that was recorded during the band's time with Sony?

Wait... Do you say that the copyright to ALL the stuff Jamiroquai have ever recorded belongs to Sony? I'm going to freak out if it does...
But seriously, I think that Jay should use the chance and release the compilation (If the copyright DOES belong to Sony), instead of the 'Greatest hits' thing. That'd be MUCH better. |

No, the copyright to some of the stuff recorded in the EOPE sessions is still with Eddie Piller (Acid Jazz CEO) - for now. He's been fighting Sony about that since Jay signed with them, because Sony reckon they bought the rights to it. The problem they have is that they don't actually have those tapes in their possession!
But what I meant was, all the stuff we DO know about - the 6 albums so far, and the unreleased stuff recorded in the sessions for those albums, presumably will still belong to Sony after Jamiroquai move. I mean, their new label probably won't be allowed to re-release EOPE or indeed any of the albums brought out so far. See what I mean?
The legality of a new record label releasing stuff recorded in Sony sessions is complicated. And the fact that in the case of the last two albums, it was recorded in Jay's home studio, rather than a Sony-owned / hired one, makes it even more questionable. Plus of course, we don't know the terms of Jay's contract with Sony.
Just have to wait and see, I guess...

...argh , I hate this part!
It's always tough when it gets to the legal rights part,
but I guess we'll all have to settle with it... _________________ yummy, yummy, yummy, I got jamiroquai in my tummy... |

that is really bad news because I (and most) were hoping for remastered versions of the first 3 albums and, as always, having our fingers crossed for a release of the "Zenderized" tracks. I guess none of this will happen after the Sony contract ends |

supper lol! i was thinking the same, azzie!
it's a good song in my opinion (i think it's one of the shortest tunes). the boys said they came up with it only a few moments before they had to "hang in" the Synk songs to sony, so they recorded it reaaally fast! |
