Club Citta 93' magic show! Toby's mystery middle name?!?
Hello, :bm_r:
For my concerned Jamirotalk.net fans: mostly Queen Of Funk..lol, I'm back to my normal self, illness-free and feeling great! Thanks for your posts of concern for health, they have warmed my heart! As you can tell, I'm back to my sarcastic self ! Anyway, I just got the Jamiroquai 93' Club Citta show on VCD from a previous trade, and man, is THE BEST JAMIROQUAI SHOW I have seen! Such a classic line-up of rare songs: "Do That Dance", "Brothers Like Mine", "God Made Me Funky", "Rapper's Delight" and my fav "Space Clav" (A minor vocal version!)! Anyway, I was watching Jam to the individual show-offs during "Rapper's Delight" where each bandmember got a solo, when they came to Toby, they had this name come on the screen: "Toby Gaffney Smith: Keyboards"?!? I never knew Toby's middle name was "Gaffney", it was a surprise! If someone can shead some light on this, please reply to this post, it would be most appreciated! Well, as the whole show, it was classic example of why the early Jamiroquai was the Best in the past Live, especially in Japan, they cast this magical aura when they played, I get goosebumps everytime I watch the VCD! Thanks for listening and the usual props to CosmicMouse & Bear! Take care and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

I have that VCD, it's cool.
I've read/heard a different name. It's Grafferty (apologies if spelling is wrong!). I was under the impression it was part of his surname, as in a double-barreled name. He was sometimes called Toby Grafferty-Smith in very old publicity or articles.

Yes, I like the Club Citta performance mostly because it offers such a different picture than the one of the AFO tour.
Club Cita is about a band having a gig, almost unformal, with lots of improvisation.
JK sings the whole concert through without support from back vocals. And he sings so well fromthe beginning to the the end!
W.Buchanan sometimes just wanders on the stage when he does not play didj. There is no programmed show. It all looks so easy and relax.
It looks like a bunch of friend jamming and having fun. Despite, or rather thanks to, this light atmosphere, the music and the whole performance is of high quality. _________________ ?Now I've got that sunshine in my life? |

BTW: That Buffalo Band picture. Where did you get it, Jamirofan?
It would make a wicked poster.
