Dancing
Jay is a fabulous dancer no doubt. Anyone know where he learned to dance? Is there a site that shows how to dance like Mr. Kay or dance in the same style he does?
Thanks

Hi Slym!
The only thing i know is that he doesn't think he's a dancer, but a "mover". He just moves to the music. That's waht he said. |

Jay calls himself a "mover" not a "dancer"...

Well whatever it is, he's very good at it! My favorites are Little L and Virtual Insanity. But the 'stop and go' in Supersonic was cool too. What about you guys?
EDIT: Oh and I can't forget Canned Heat! _________________ You can wait a thousand years in line ...

yeah, the way he moves is funktastic! i think, i read in an interview that he taught himself.
virtual insanity and supersonic really do rock, but also does deeper underground. i would have drowned, if i would have tried jumping from the edge of one seat to another one...
i have never heard of a school that teaches the jay-kay-way of moving. and i doubt that i would try it. i probably would make a fool of myself _________________ Dear Auntie Em. Hate you, hate Kansas, took the dog. Dorothy. x |

Cool, I found the interview, that came to my mind when I was reading this topic...
20 ANS/August 2001
[...]Question: "Are you fit? It seems that you're a quite a good dancer, how is it possible?"
Jay's answer: "Really? I don't see myself as a good dancer, but more as a "mover". I got a soul that makes me move with the rhythm, but I do not dance, I move. It's instinctive. [...]
Check this link for the entire interview:

i came across this site a long time ago, it's the closest you can get to a 'dance like da jay man' tutorial. :P it seems that jay's dance style evolved from the 'body popping' style of breakdance that became popular in Britain in the 80s. check out this site - very very interesting!

PS my fave j'quai 'dance' video is space cowboy... amazing he doesn't get his feet burned ;P |

I used to dance pro when I was 16 (about 8 yrs ago), my dancing is alot like Jays, when he says he is a mover he is right, he finds fun and excitment in his music rather than planned dance steps! I love his dancing toox |

Well I must admit I'm still surprise about the way he moves... I mean, I was at a concert about a month ago and I had always thought that way of dancing was not real... Ohh My God!! I think JK is unique!!
question........ when we gonna learn??
answer.... it's like learning to be a Creator!!
HE IS A CREATOR!! _________________ "Virtual Insanity, maybe a work of art which will never be considered as it shoulb be" |
