MANITOU (please read this)
Hi all,
Good friends of mine from Moscow have a pop/soul band called Manitou. They are huge fans of Jamiroquai and all other soulful and funky music (check their cover version of Everyday.)
Now they are participating in a Young Musicians Contest of a famous Russian Usadba Jazz Festival and I would appreciate if you kindly support them.
Here's what I'm asking you to do:
1. Go to this link: http://contest.usadba-jazz.ru/candidates/577
2. Listen to the song to the end (otherwise they won't count your vote)
3. If you like the song, please give them 5 stars.
That's it! It won't take much time and you will support fellow Jamiroquai fans from Russia, helping them win a record deal or booking for this festival next year as full fledged participants.
Thanks for reading this and please vote! |

Monisum and Tlum, thanks for participating, I'm glad you liked the sounds!
As for the information about the band, I'm afraid there are no useful web links about the band yet, probably due to the band being relatively new. But I'm sure when they have an album out, you'll hear more about them!
The singer's name is Roman Koshkarov, he's 29, and he's a huge fan of Stevie Wonder. I think, he can easily sing and play any well-known song by Stevie Wonder or Jamiroquai (from the first 3 albums) on piano, guitar or bass! In fact, he had written, played and produced the demo tracks that you heard almost entirely by himself, before he had a full band. If they win this contest, it will be their first large-scale public performance, this is why I really want them to win. This festival is a pretty big event for jazz fans in Russia (for example, last year they had The Brand New Heavies, and I even went to Moscow to see them). |

Hi everybody! a couple of years ago I made this topic about a band called Manitou and asked you to vote for them. Well, despite our efforts, they didn't win the contest (I heard the competition wasn't real anyway, and the winner had been predetermined).
But that's not important now, is it? The reason I'm bringing this topic up is that I'd like to share a great new song recorded by Manitou's vocalist Roman in his studio. It's called "Get Up And Boogie, I'm sure you'll like it, it's really good.

Would love to read your comments. Cheers! |

Hey, thanks for sharing this band! Their track is really well done. Very enjoyable. But it sounds exactly like a certain Stevie Wonder track. But still very good. The break is my favorite part of the song. Do they plan to release it on CD? |

Glad you liked the song! Yes, Stevie Wonder influence is all over this track, and Roman (who wrote, produced and performed the song) has always said Stevie's music is his main inspiration in life.
I hope they release an album one day, but I haven't heard about any specific plans to date. Roman is busy writing, arranging and producing for other people, and he occasionally performs with Manitou in Moscow clubs and records his songs in his home studio. |
