The Pharcyde.
for me the best hip hop album of 1995 ... thanks JDilla for this production, RIP
from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pharcyde
The Pharcyde first appeared as a feature on a Brand New Heavies album (funk/soul) with a song called Soulflower. A remix of this song would be included on The Pharcyde's first album. I love that album.
In 1995, The Pharcyde released their second album, Labcabincalifornia. The album received mixed reviews, due to a different musical direction from the light-hearted playfulness of their debut. The album included another big crossover hit, "Runnin'", peaking at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100. This single was later featured in the movie 8 Mile, as well as the More Music from 8 Mile soundtrack. Labcabincalifornia featured production from future super-producers Jay Dee and Diamond D. Album sales this time around did not fare as well, the group was not able to reach Gold status again. A music video for the song "Drop" was directed by Spike Jonze. _________________ http://www.jamirosite.com

ok, I`m not huge hip hop fan but after near month activity of this thread nobody mentioned my best group in this genre so I do.
Hocus Pocus
they have nicely done profile on dailymotion site, where you can see not only their music but carefully worked-out videoclips..
I have seen them once last year and they made my day!! They are all good musicians and I can clearly understand what their MC - 20syl - is rapping about - this is not so often commonplace for the other hip hop bands!!!
And about czech band(s) - of course Navigators..
songs: Happy / Rely On / Frenemy (live) / Hug Me (live)
and their "special welcoming surprise" from the begining of one of their concert - Still Urging (feat. Bucinatorez)
and another 2 or 3 bands performing in czech (Prago Union, BPM, ..) |

1. Common (sexy ass delicious man mmmmmmm)
2. madlib aka mf doom aka danger doom (a triphop genius check out his jazz band yesterdays new qunitet)
3.Lupe fiasco (totally fresh)
4. mos def ( this man had me in tears when he was performing in rsa. the beautiful boogie man)
5. talib kweli (nuff said)
6. the last emperor (lovely clean tunes hehe for the most part)
7. tumi and the volume (proudly south african baybay!!!!)
8. snoop (hehe crazy man that one)
9. pete rock (i love his triphop side, really dope)
10. buckshot leFonque (funky name but sick sounds)
11. outkast (although mainly andre 3000 with his innocent sounding melody in "spread" i was just singing along without realisin what he was actually saying )
Im not a hardcore hiphop fan coz lyrics are usually the last thing i listen to in a track so you best believe these cats have awesome beats |

I just have their 2nd CD (due to release on 29th April 2010) called My Place for review and I could say without the doubt it is the best what our small republic could offer right now.
C their new video for single My Place and be prepared for the next one for the song Do Something as it will rock the world! (it will hit the youtube in next 14 days i think) |
