Morning all.

I like it - love the melody. Initially wasn't too sure if it was a COTE-esque song for me but it's stuck in my head and I have perfected a swaying-chair-dance move to it - so it's a big tick from me.

Roll on RDLS!

Incidentally, have had conversations with Russ over the fact that "Jamiroquai" is really hard to spell. Therefore it's not so easy for new listeners who are searching for the music. This was highlighted last night; spent the evening with a friend who, having the advantage of a much quicker connection, was downloading BS (ha! Not the best of abbreviations!!!!), WKR and the NVG tracks for me. He had difficulty spelling Jamiroquai and in the end resorted to copy and paste jobbies for each new request I had.

Do you think Jamiroquai only reach fans who can spell?!

Roll on the "Rock Funk" in Rock Dust Light Star!!!! Smile

Ha!!! I couldn't even say "Jamiroquai" for years...I would stutter "jum...jum...jum"!

Sandriche - I know you're good on the old guitar - what do you think of Rob's part in BS - I think it's wonderful - showcases his playing.

there are 2 different guitars
the acoustic one at the begin ( riff , chords)..and then the electric one comes in (melodies)...
the electric one reminds me a little of john mayer...and i LOVE john mayers sound!

Rob harris pulled a deep warm singing but still clear sound...totally dig it

Unfortunately I don´t know heaps yet about gear+guitars...but I have seen guitarists working in studios and it takes AAAAGES until they are happy with their tone ...hundred little knobs and buttons are turned on and around...
I really appreciate a good guitar sound 7electricguitar 7note

Personally I think that the songs that we know of on this new album are really disappointing...mind you, taking Jan's comments in mind about the mis-spelling,I think I may have been searching for songs by jam & rock cakes...ooops! Smile

I’m not a big fan of his ballads. I think after ROTSC (Half the Man and Manifest Destiny) he should’ve stopped. It’s incredibly frustrating he’s so resentful towards that album. I think deep down inside he knows he’ll never top it on his own.

And why did he add the female vocalists. They add cheese; which was never there before.

Absolutely, I agree...Manifest Destiny is genius btw...I even dig Half the man and a lot...gotta say it (but it was Toby's masterpiece)

And the backing vocals' cheese....true...aahh G-d...I hate them so badly!

He he, that was me!!, thumbs up Andrew!...he'd probably throw up on today's version...and I know today's Jason acknowledges this...

On another topic, I was thinking about Shoot the Moon and some live performances of old songs from this decade (well..past decade, 2000's)...I mean they surely got the talent, is it that they just forget about it whenever they record?

By adding the women he’s turned himself into Tony Orlando and Dawn!

Tony Orlando & Dawn! Laughing (I could never figure out which was Dawn!)

Y'know there's almost no action at Jamiroquai.com. But so much here!

I read back a few pages. Half the Man and Spend A Lifetime are pure classics. Heart- wrenching about obvious love. Never cared for King for a Day.

Blue Skies sounds retrospective of his life. Meaningful to him, but not as agonizing as love is. Good song. We'll probably laugh years from now when we remember how we disliked it at first. And know all the memories linked to it.

But definitely think it shouldn't be a 1st release. A dance hit should be.
The rock shift probably influenced by Rob Harris -Lead guitar. Often this is a second voice and prominent in new band. Maybe this is for marketing toward the U.S. -common in bands.

I don't know. We won't know if we like it until it is released as a whole. But we'd cry if we didn't have something. So this is it.

I'm in the mood for something groovy. But by then, who knows. It may be shelved depending on what else I love at the time. But I'll always come back to Jamiroquai.

Edit! No need for this comment!

Thanks Sandriche!

My 2nd question to you:

Do we know who is on backing vocals? To my ears it doesn't sound as if Hazel is singing.

Smile
