JK´s Voice
Hey'all Funkers!
His it just me or does JK's voice been sounding like s..., in his gigs?
Damn i've just listen to the Pori Jazz Festival 2003, by the way thank´s a million to Geuze from Finland for the live tracks, and his voice seems messed up, not only that but also in the DVD Live in Verona you can hear the same rough voice, especially in Virtual Insanity, i mean is his boehmiac, (is this properly written?), life messing up his voice? Is this a lack of careness or are witnessing jk's downfall?!?!?!? |

Yes, I kind of agree with you. But I think his voice has been somewhat raspy for some years now. I've noticed that already when listening to for example gigs they had in 99.
There's a big difference in his voice if you compare present performances and early years. And I think you can hear it also on albums.
Too much pot and stress maybe
Let's hope it is not gone for good - I think there's been still some occasions lately where he's been able to sing quite brightly.
The Pori Jazz gig was in my opinion a great performance (by the way, I live here - in Pori ) but Jay sang quite little. Sometimes he sings even too much - without space for instrumental parts. That was not the case this time.
Yeah, cheers :)
Geuze. |

I hear that his voice or very different than it once was, but I'm not sure it's neccessarily a bad thing. He's gotten older, his voice has matured some, I think he's settling in more in his own unique sound. Of course you know, when EOPE was released, he was accused of plagiarizing Stevie Wonder's voice... well, I don't think anyone could accuse him of that anymore. Most singer's voices change dramatically over a long period of time, and I think Jay is no exception. I'm not concerned, unless he starts to really lose his upper range.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying the new recordings!
Peace. |

I couldn't have said it any better than that Freddie. I'm in total agreement with you about JK's voice. _________________ I used to worry about the future

Unless one undergoes throat surgery( i.e. Sir Elton John) the voice can go back to normal with enough rest. I'm sure it won't be half as bad as some might think...lol _________________ I used to worry about the future
