Finally there's a thread for this track! I was starting to think no one was really liking it yet.
OK, so I've not listened to the full track yet.. but after hearing the samples this is the track I am most excited about hearing, I just know I'm gonna love this one! _________________ May the wind always be at your back, and the sun upon your face...

When that trumpet ending kicks in, I think we're onto a wonderful happy blow session, but it ends too abruptly - perhaps they'll extend it live.
But seriously, this track is growing on me, a bit like 'Black Crow', which I think is the best song alongside 'Main Vein' on AFO. _________________ Fan since '92. |

My favorite song....! But, in this case I hate Jamiroquai, I have this (wonderful) song in my head all the day since 3 or 4 days... _________________ I have always 8 years old when he's less than two meters from me / 1992: birth of a genius |

The song just end too soon. They should add trumpet with instrumental jam for...30 seconds I guest. Everything was just great when the trumpet came up and then.... That'sit? C'mon!! |

Lifeline is just about the best song on the album!
I love the intro, so Motown sounding to me! The song has a full sound of harmonies and melodies. Vocals are great! It's so upbeat and happy. Love the trumpets. And sweet about getting back together. Moving, Grooving...
"Zero to Hero" nice line.
But then it shifts to Julian Peretta style (actually, Beatlesque -which is nice and youthful).
Back to a more grooving pace. Just nice good feeling.
Symphonic with all these classical instruments. And even a flute(my instrument from high school!)
"Don't spoil my sweet Charade" best line!
A Lifeline of Love -great concept. But the music delivers. |

Lifeline
Overall I quite like this song. Absolutely love the progression and big band sound, but it loses me at the bridge and leaves me cold. Come the soaring verses and I warm to it again. It’s a more mature time weary sound for Jamiroquai, and for the sound of RDLS in general I think, with some lighter breezier songs thrown in (TCDT, SAFP, WKR). There’s something about Lifeline that reminds me of Joe Cocker’s You Can Leave Your Hat On, not sure what exactly, but I think they’re in the same vein. |

I guess maybe the rhythmic beat
So funny, I googled that Joe Cocker and 9 1/2 weeks came up. Remember when Mickey Rourke was cute?
(and the beat goes on...) |

What's also funny is that I then imagined Joe Cocker singing Lifeline.

I looked up You Can Leave Your Hat On on YouTube and watched the 9 1/2 Weeks clip. Yeah, Mickey was quite a hot dish back then. |
