First single, 1989?
Hi guys
I was reading a magazin the other day and I sow an alcoholic publicity advertisment saying:
1989, JAMIROQUAI FIRST SINGLE
YOU CAN DO WATHEVER YOU WANT (or something like that, I don´t remeber)

and there was also a picture of an old yellow cassette with some anarquic simbols and some letteres written on it

I know it´s bullshit becouse the first sigle was out on 1992 but I though it could be some cassette of an audition or somethig.

So what do you think?

That would be very interesting if it would be true.

Hm, wasn't Jay on audition for Brand New Heavies in 1989? Maybe he was angry because he was not accepted and wrote some smashy song!

You say advertisement. For what? To buy that casette?

Scan that article Snorry!
buffaloman_R Hello, :bm_r:

Hmmm...that is really interesting Snorry, Wink thanks for sharing that Wink. If you still have that ad lying around, you might want to scan it and share it online. It could have been a early advert or promotions of Jamiroquai while they were on the Acid Jazz label, just a thought. If it ends up being a ad for a cassette promo of "Whatever It Is, I Can't Stop It"...Very Happy talk about a rariety that would need to be added to the "Jamiroquai Digital Discography" Very Happy! Thanks again for sharing that Snorry, take care & Peace!

Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hi there!

I have seen the advertisment in two magazines and the cassete could be of any music group and that there isnt any reference about jamiroquai on the cassete picture.

The sense of the advertisement I believe that it is centred in that jamiroquai has obtained his dream with the time.

Its my opinion...

It´s a johnnie walker advertisement.
I scanned the photo but I don´t know how to put the pic online. So if anyone could help me I would put it here right know. (Or I can send it to anyone who knows how to do it)

And yep, it´s not the first single but I didn´t know how to say model in english. Maybe maquet? Razz

This is what I found in the Microsoft Music Central 97 in the article about Jamiroquai:

Kay (b. 1969, London, England) was brought up in Ealing, London, England, by his jazz-singer mother, Karen Kay. Inspired by Sly Stone, Gil Scott-Heron and Roy Ayers, he re-interpreted those influences into a '90s pop format which also combined 'new age' mysticism and the growing urban funk movement which took its name from the Acid Jazz label. However, as a former breakdancer, he had already recorded in a hip hop vein, releasing a single with a sampler and drum machine for Morgan Khan's Streetsounds label in 1986.

Does it mean that there is Jay's solo single, which he had released before he created Jamiroquai? It's very confusing because I used to think that 'When You Gonna Learn?' was the first song he recorded.

Jay playing Hip Hop? I'd like to hear that Wink
