Songs = colors
You know... Whenever you listen to a song, do you expirience some sort of a color in your mind related to the song? ('cause I do...) Here's how I see the Jamiroquai sound:

(One thing I'd also like to add: despite what you may think, none of the colors I had related to the songs have been influenced their respective album/single covers or videos. Most of, if not all of these colors came into my mind before I even saw any cover art/videos related to them)

1. WYGL - Green and yellow;
2. TYTD - Red, with orange and yellow in smaller amounts, and dots of black here and there;
3. HU - Dark blue, black;
4. IILIIDI - Pink, purple and blue;
5. MOTM - PINK; Shocked Shocked
6. EOPE - Pink, purple and black;
7. WIIIJCS - same as IILIIDI;
8. BYM - Green, white, with spots of dark blue;
9. R1993 - Purple, black and yellow (ew);
10. DO - Black and purple with shades of dark blue;
11. Space Clav - Pink. AGAIN.
12. Do That Dance - Firenze and Club Citta versions are green (as on the BYM single cover) and white, while Milan '93 is blue and purple;
13. Life Goes On - Brown and orange;
14. Brothers Like You - Definately yellow and white;
15. The kids - Brown, black and yellow. At least the post-TROTSC versions. The EOPE tour version was black, yellow and (very oddly) orange (in stripes... WTF??)
16. JAS - The intro is purpley-blue. The sneaky part, before the second verse is very dark colored (brown, yellow again), and so are the verses. The ending is completely colored in yellow...
17. SIT - Orange;
18. HTM - Purple and black;
19. LY - Light blue, dark blue and black;
20. MD - Brown, yellow, black;
21. MM - Brown, purple, black;
22. Scam - Brown, black;
23. Journey to Arnhemland - Black, yellow, brown, with spots of white (which look like stars in a nightly sky)
24. Morning Glory - Predominantly orange, with alot of green, too, spots of red, and all kinds of other crazy *h**;
25. Space Cowboy - Purple, blue and black, with some odd bright-blue noise sprinkled all over it... "Stoned Again" mix has alot of purple to it, too.
26. Mr. Boogie - PURPLE. LIKE PRINCE;
27. Slippin' 'n' Slidin - Bright brown, yellow and sky blue;
28. Bullet - Light gray, with yellow sparkles sprinkled all over;
29. Formula 1 theme - never heard;
30. VI - Black, dark blue, and white;
31. CG - Pink & purple;
32. UTF - Orange and yellow, with some red here and there;
33. Everyday - completely black, with some transparent glass plates all over;
34. Alright - The intro is awfully colored, like a broth soup - some yellow here, some red and green there - just like puke. The rest of the song, although, is colored in a somewhat golden/orangey tone...
35. HT - Mostly black, with dark green in the foreground;
36. DA - Green. And Yellow.
37. Didjerama - Green and black;
38. DV - Green, black and sky blue;
39. TWM - Predominantly green, with some sort of motor-oil black all over;
40. YAML - Green. And yellow. And black, but mostly the first two;
41. SAL - Black, predominantly, with some spots of dark green all over, too.
42. DYKWYCF - Ummm... Sky blue, cyan and sahara desert-orange.
43. Funktion - just like the Alright intro, but with less of a broth soup appearance to it... It's got like... Black, orange, yellow, green and red.
44. DU - black and dark green;
45. CH - strong orange and dark blue;
46. PH - Brown and sky-blue.
47. BCD - Brown. Just like old bricks.
48. SE - Yellow, dark blue, and the strongest orange you can find;
49. Falling - Black and orange;
50. DI - Black (predominantly), purple, yellow (only like... two little dots);
51. Supersonic - Orange and black;
52. Butterfly - Orange and brown;
53. WDWGFH - Orange, yellow and black-brown;
54. KFOAD - Black and yellow;
55. Getinfunky - Brown, white, sky blue;
56. WISC - never heard;
57. Snooze you Lose - Orange and black with some dark blue flowing on the side;
58. FSG - Black, purple and blue;
59. Little L - Dark blue, black;
60. YGMS - Light blue, dark blue, black again;
61. Interlude #1 - Black and sky-blue;
62. Main Vein - Blue, white and dark-purple;
63. COTE - Yellow, blue, black;
64. 2001 - Black, light-blue;
65. BC - black, dark blue;
66. Intelude #2 - Same as Interlude #1;
67. DILWUTD - Predominantly dark blue, with small amounts of black and bright blue, too;
68. SDP - Black and blue, again;
69. Interlude #3 - Blue and white with patches of black;
70. POML - Orange, sky blue, white, indigo blue;
71. So good to feel real - Blue on black and a little bit purple, too.
72. LoveFool - Blue, purple, yellow, green, black.
73. EGTTM - Dark blue, light blue and black with a little bit of orange here and there.
74. FJLIS - that icky green tint from the video, black and red;
75. Dyna - Green, black, and blue;
76. SDISJ - Orange, yellow, sky blue;
77. EM - Green and yellow;
78. Starchild - Purple, blue, black, with spots of yellow;
79. Loveblind - PINK. EW. Shocked
80. Talullah - Green, red, but also somewhat dark in its own right;
81. DGHAC - Can't help but say it's the awful orange from the video;
82. WTHW - Black, yellow, and orange;
83. BDC - That slick, glossy black, yellow, orange and white;
84. HTB - Yellow, Orange, black, brown;
85. TWW - Some reddy-pink orange with a small amount of yellow.
86. Runaway - purple, black;
87. Radio - Yellow, orange, black.
(forgot these ones -- sorry!)
88. Funk Odyssey - Black, blue, light blue;
89. Cannabliss - Same as above, but with a little bit of blood-red and cheeba-green;
90. Who the funk do you think you are? - Purple, pink, yellow, black;
91. Morse Code (the eope intro from Paradiso '94) - Black, white, and some other color I don't recognise... (Wow... New color... I'll dub it "Knjaz"...)

As you can see, I connect gray with dry sounds, yellow with some really odd sounds, black with silence, the wah-wah effect with pink and purple and some sharper sounds with blue. The fat, creamy sound from Fender Rhodes II in BYM is frigging green. Is it just me, or do both me and J suffer from slight Synesthesia? Shocked

My visual definition of the Jamiro sound: Mostly black, with alot of purple and blue. Prince's purpleness pales in comparison to the Jamiro one.

Let's hope that the new album will be colored like Everyday, but with some yellow and gray spots to it, too.

Interesting topic. My mind actually goes to the colors on the cover of the single/album/promo if there's one. I can't avoid it...

I think you're right. But my colours are a bit different. For example, all those disco sounds are silver for me - Starchild for example and Dynamite of course. Oh yeah, Dynamite is incredibly silver..

That's called syndrome of chroma... eh... Chroma-something, I forgot now Razz

Anyway, I usually don't associate sounds with colours.

:/ I relate songs with almost everything, but not colours, sorry :/

Wait now that I think about it:
Little L - Blue
Main Vein - Orange
But that is all.

this is a very interesting topic.

for example, in my case, songs from the afo era are realted to violet, purple, blue, and red colors,(yes like the cover)... but those colors have been always related to disco music.

it's very reasonable, old scool songs bring orange, brown, and yellow colors to me, colors that represent that 70's funk, maybe more related to music like Koll and the Gang, or Sly and the Family Stone...

well that's just my opinion Smile

Well, that is true if you're talking about TROTSC. On the other hand, EOPE is very pink and purple, because of the wah-wah effect. Have you noticed just how WYGL and TYTD (in my eyes at least) differ from the rest of the EOPE album, chromatically?

Now, I really can't say that most of the colors you describe as "Funk" are completely related to Funk. Take Late Nite Tales: Jamiro as an example. It's a huge pattern of various flowing, vivid colors on (again) a black surface. Then again, we got P-Funk. Just listen to Funkadelic's "(Not Just) Knee Deep". It's a pattern of various bright, moving red and green lights scattered all over, also over a black background.

I think you need a lot of cheeba to see colors while listening to music Smile
The only color associations I get are with the songs that have videos - for example virtual insanity is all white/black/grey in my mind...

i was thinking the same, i don't know the name, but in some people's brain sounds are linked with colours (in fact some people DO SEE colours when some sounds are listened), in some people colurs appears depending of the number they are looking....just some of our brains connections of areas

I have this color association when I hear a harmony/chord or single tunes. I have this since I am a little child. For example the chord F is yellow for me, D is green and A is purple.

So, when I hear a song, the colours I am thinking of are changing - depending on the harmonies.

Yep, that's what we've been looking for. However, I don't 'see' just one color like CosmicMouse, but when I listen to a song, I usually see a colorful pattern, rather than just a single color...
