shouldn't the idea of the picture count more than the quality anyway? so in theory you could take a picture with your mobile and still be up to the top  |

cool, I agree that it should be a real photo, not messed with in photoshop or another imaging program and I reckon it can be a digital photo taken witha camera or phone or even a normal photo that's been scanned |

While saying of photoshop usage I just mean correcting brightness and contrast, cropping a little, maybe paspartu, that's not about 50 layers and photo collage, it's about correcting a little.
If we prohibit photoshop, then we may also say that clasic photo style is B/W....
Well, I wouldn't prohibit photoshop, let everyone decide himself.... |

Nice idea!
I'd like to second deesh's suggestion about the organisation part of this "project". I'd love to support this comeptition, but at the moment a few other things have priority for me. I hope you understand.
I don't think you need to be a moderator to rule this competition... I'd suggest that one of you (Pepela?) puts together a few rules and a deadline, then people can send in their pictures (to an email adress) - that person can then post all pics (without names) in one thread, each with a number and then you can add a poll. (If you need help with the poll I can help, of course!)
I am curious to see all artworks!

Of course, to rule competiton isn't necessary to be a moderator, so we need a candidacy who'll be accurate and not among those who want to take part in competition. Just to be more objective:)
So I s'pose that when we have that person we'll decide with the topic and dates:) |

This is a great idea! I'd love to take part of the competition!
About the use of graphics manipulation applications...I think the only one limit we should set is that the image should be a picture, not an artwork. I would just allow image tuning. _________________ I once had a 10 years of Travelling Without Moving celebrations banner here... |

I thought a bit about this lovely idea and here are some of my suggestions:
- The chosen c.a.
"competition administrator" (Pepela? ) could open a thread (sticky) in the Jamily section so he would have rights to edit the first post. He would explain the rules and issue a time deadline to submit the pictures to an email address. Thread gets locked and discussion should be kept inside a support post (this one?).
- After the deadline,a second post from the c.a would keep all the pictures in the competition and the thread would get unlocked.
- Everybody could submit in the thread just one post with the vote.
Just one picture choice, a 0-10 vote to every picture,...?

What about rating individual pics 1-10 AND voting for the "best" one overall? _________________

Nooooo, I don't want to be c.a - I want to take part in competition too:)) And c.a won't be able - coz people will send him their pics and if c.a will be an interested person he'll post only his photo:)))) With all other things I agree.
Voting will be like that:
Picture number 1-5 points, number 2-7 pointc ecc...
And after c.a counts results in Excel for example, and tells results - from 1st place to others with points that pics gained.
PS
And to make voting easier we should give names to photos and shouldn't vote for all pics 10 10 10 or vote only for 1 pic....
So, I may write all the rules and date and you guys choose c.a |

RULES OF COMPETITION
1.Letters of those who want to take part in competition should content: original nickname (only c.a will know it) and title of the photo
2.One user may send only one photo
3.Do not resize photos and send it in original size
4.Usage of Photoshop is possible, but you should be staying in frames of topic and not create artwork of photo
5.Photo collages are prohibited
6.Works will be published as c.a will receive them and will have original number which will correspond authors
7.After the deadline of sending pictures, c.a will publish all works in 1 message with their names and numbers
8.On photos sent for competition must not be anything abusing
9.On photos sent for competition must not be users of Jamirotalk10.We create special topic like “Photo competition: (topic)”
11.We discuss all questions in “Suggestion – photo competition” topic
12.All discussions not corresponding competition will be deleted
13.All praises, criticism and discussions of photos before winner is announced will be deleted
VOTING RULES:
1) We vote for each photo according to a 10 point scale.
For example:
1. “Photo’s title” – 5 points
2. “Photo’s title” – 10 points
3. “Photo’s title” – 1 point…..
……………………………………
nn “Photo’s title” – 8 points ecc….
2) It’s not necessary to explain why you put that photo 10 points and another one only 2
TIME CONSTRAINTS:
1.Time to send photos: 2 weeks (14 days) starting from the next day after the competition is announced (e.g: today is 5/06 and I announce competition and those 2 weeks start tomorrow, 6/06)
2.One week for voting starting from the nex day after c.a publishes all works in 1 posting |

Sooo....
Moderating team, who wants to be c.a? One step forward!
Because I may be one, but that won't be fair! And there's another reason: since we'll be sending pics in actual size we need more space to place them (as far as in understand that's possible to place pictures for time of competiton at Jamirotalk server............. or not I mean in their address will be www.jamiratalk.net/competition/(name of the photo)?)
And what topic will competition have?
Summer in the city, Lovemood, JamiroLife, Picture of my life, Childhood memories (without child's photos for example).....Give your ideas!
By the way, can smb create some flash which could be put like when it's been easter competition on top for everybody know about it?
