BODOG's European Battle of the Bands
I figure many of you know some unsigned and local bands over in Europe that could definitely take advantage of this. A Philly band and friends, Burndown AllStars - www.myspace.com/burndownallstars
competed in this a few months ago, and it is cool watching it unfold on television. I interviewed them and they had a great time doing it, networked with many other bands and are still in the running for the contract. The show is on now and they haven't been booted yet! So, I say all this to say that it is a great opportunity from what I heard and hopefully you guys can pass this on to some friends that could use an outlet of exposure right about now.
THE WORLD’S BIGGEST BATTLE OF THE BANDS HITS BRITAIN
London 14th August: After huge success in the U.S. pitting real musicians playing original tunes against one another, the Bodog Battle is heading to Europe with an axe to grind. Bodog Battle went down in rock n’ roll history with over 7,500 unsigned bands playing 350 live shows across the U.S. for a panel of judges featuring John Lydon, the legendary Sex Pistols frontman.
With some of the biggest names in music hosting, judging, and guest presenting, this European road trip is looking for warriors worthy of a staggering $1-million global music contract with Bodog Music. Hot on the heels of the U.S. Battle, the 2008 European tour is set to be even bigger and better with 1,000 bands already signed up. With the cutoff date for sign ups less than two months off, the competition is gonna’ get fierce.
Bodog Music recently hit the U.K. music scene hard, kicking-off European expansion in a monumental night at London’s Hammersmith Apollo with an epic show from the Wu Tang Clan, the newest addition to the Bodog Music label.
“Did you see the Wu-Tang show we put on in London?” says Calvin Ayre. “That’s just a taste of Bodog Music. The U.K. and Europe have given the world some of its best acts—David Bowie, U2, Massive Attack, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones —and it’s my mission to find the best-unsigned band in the land and give them a $1-million recording contract with Bodog Music.”
Bodog Battle’s European leg sees the best online entrants belt it out across 12 cities - London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Dublin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin and Munich with the climax at The Astoria in London’s West End in March, 2008.
So how do bands get involved?
Bands can register online now, and upload their music, video, biography and photos on www.bodogbattle.eu to be a part of this kickin’ music competition. The first round of auditions takes place in September at intimate venues in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Dublin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin, and Munich.
Through November and December, the show takes over Europe’s finest music venues to tease, tempt and delight the judges and fans into voting them through to the next stage.
The best band from each city moves on to battle it out for the $1-Million recording contract in the European final at London’s Astoria in March 2008.
