[Question No.1] - Derrick McKenzie answers...
Hi Derrick,
It's been a few months since the business relationship between Jamiroquai and SonyBMG ended. To our knowledge the band has been without a record label. How does it feel to start writing and producing without a big record company behind you? Is it more freedom or suspense?

Hi M,
to be without a record company means more freedom to do what we really want to do and experiment to get new sounds work on new songs without the added pressure of somebody breathing down your neck!!!!!!!
I am sure we all feel the same way!!!!!!!

Hi lovely Derrick - great to hear from you
I can't wait to hear the new sounds from the band, and you're right it's so much easier when you don't have people pressuring you to do the music 'they' want you to do instead of just being creative and doing what you 'feel'
Take care,
SAMANTHA

Hey Derrick,
Hope all is well with you. I guess this question kind of takes off from your answer to Meike's, so bear with me. I noticed on Matt's myspace blog recently that the album-writing process is set to begin soon. Have you and the other band members gotten together to hash out a 'concept' of sorts for the album and what new elements do you believe can work with the usual 'Jamiroquai sound' on this go-round? Good luck!

Alright Mr 'D'?Just wondering really...but are you and/or any of the others tempted to swap places with Jay sometimes when putting a son together or,indeed, whilst doing the live shows?Come on Derrick!Surely you wanna know what it's like to wear THAT headgear...haha! _________________ ''SYNKRONIZED SINCE '94' |
