There is something that has to be said.
I can understand if an artist wants to try to prevent piracy and take care of his work. But Prince has to know that music industry has changed, and is not fans' fault.

You just can't go against your fans. Without them, he (or any artist for that matter) is nobody.
He's gone too far and he's dealing against piracy in a wrong way.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to illegaly download 'Planet Earth'. I guess that a true fan is going to buy the original album, and I'm certainly not a fan of this guy. He's going to chase me down the street!...
oh wait here he comes...!
No Prince, please no!! Look! Look up! Is raining purple!!! *and leaves*

D!

But to forbid fans to post pictures of him is totally insane! That is what happens when you become a celebrity, he shouldn't complain.

This is not truth - and funny thing is that everybody knows it. But near nobody wants to see that it become the hardcore reality.

Prince introduce himself in many ways, but not as someone 4 taking photos so why the hell pictures of him become 3 4 publishing?

See this is definitively not about the Prince! He only knows that some utopia ideas is utopia only in human minds and when U R strict, U can show to all, that things can B really changed.

And sometimes (as seems now) the way to show it may B very painful at all...

wow, what a topic we have here. People should be able to protest or critique. Really without discourse what you have is stagnation- and that would be the death of all things artistic. Maybe it is not enjoyable but it is necessary, what matters with the critique is the intent. If a person is simply being malicious they should keep quiet. As far as the abstract nebula of who owns the music its not right for a person to claim that all the experiences and people who went into the making of the music are their own creation. Every artist references what came before them too, it is impossible not to. Perhaps Prince has other reasons (perhaps religious ones?) for wanting to control his image? I don't know, but it seems like everyone losing privacy- yet maybe our idea of privacy is changing. Maybe those who grow up always knowing the internet will think we are fuddy duddies for being concerned about it in the first place. ???

I think people should listen to him and give him what he wants, then let him wait a little to see what he's done to his own image. (a la Creon from Sophocles' "Antigone") He'll land back onto the Earth in no time.
