The only two parts from that youtube clip that come from the time between TWM and Synk are the second and third bits. The first one is someone elses version of TYTD and the last is Space Clav off the Half The Man single.

If I remember right, the two short clips first came about during the 1998 MTV Video Awards when Jay presented an award (?) from his studio as a result of winning the previous year for VI. It was kind of a sneak preview similar to the one we got with Black Devil Car when Jay was on 5th Gear that time in 2004.

I'm pretty sure these are the only things pretty much anyone outside the band has heard from the proposed 4th album studio sessions.

Just out of interest, does anyone know where the title 'Symphonized' comes from? And for that matter 'Midnight Funk'? I got a feeling they've just been made up by fans to give this stuff a name...

FROM DYEGO in Jamiroquai information All you need to know :

SYNKRONIZED (1999)
Released on June 14th 1999. Recorded at Chillington Studio, Buckinghamshire, London, UK. It debuted at #1 on the UK charts with 98.000 copies sold the first week. Chart Positions: 1, 3, 3.
(Note: this album had to be re-recorded after bassist Stuart Zender left the band. Avoiding all legal issues, Jay Kay decided to record the album again. The Original Synkronized recorded with Stuart Zender has never been released and it's one of the most wanted rarities from fans). For those reasons,'Synkronized' had an October 1998 initial release date and was originally called 'Symphonised'. Also, new bassist Nick Fyffe recorded 7 tracks for 'Synkronized', but only 4 are on the album. Jay Kay was hoping to sing a duet with Stevie Wonder on 'Synkronized', and Quincy Jones and Roy Ayers were going to work with them. Another interesting fact is that more than 20 songs were recorded for this album, only the best 10 of Jay and Sony were included.
The Synkronized Tour from 1999 was originally called 'Boogie Forever'

All the info from that topic I made is from funkin.com

'Symphonised' is how the album was called in the site during early information of that recording.

Here's an example: http://funkin.com/news/?id=346

'Midnight Funk' is, as far as I know, a fan-made title.

D!

From Funkin:
Quote:
Sunday 18 January 1998
Changes are being planned for the sound of the next album whose title will possibly be Symphonised. For more information have a listen to this MTV Europe interview with Jay recorded a few days ago (interview no longer available).

Anyone have this video? In the recesses of my memory I can vaguely remember this one, but I feel like I need to see it again...

Apart from samples 2 and 3, none of them are from unreleased Synkronized sessions. This is very plain to hear. The last one is Space Clav from Half the Man single, others are just bullshit, definitely not played by Jamiroquai. Rolling Eyes

Who knows what's happening up at Horsenden Manor?? I mean we weren't even aware 11 songs were already written so who knows if the big dons of production were involved!

I remember reading somewhere that Timbaland was in the frame to help produce, i think it was dynamite! so he could also be possibly involved, he's got his fingers in all sorts of pies: FOB, His own work, the Eurovision winner.. Wink

Or it could be mark ronson - he seems to produce every other released album at the minute! Not that that's a bad thing! He loves Jazz/Funk and so he could do a right treat on the new album!
