Where did Wallis go and what's he been up to after Jamiroquai? |
They don't know much about him. A year ago I wrote a note to Derrick regarding Wallis and said that they hadn't spoke to him for almost years, the only contact point they have is an email address, but they haven't used it for a while now. So Wallis is kinda lost.... |
I got news that is exciting for me!
Wallis is not lost!
He's recording!
In Poland!
Yeah, I know it sounds like a joke. But it's true.
We got group in Poland called Drum Freaks - it's a kind of "all stars" group 'cos there are many very good Polish musicians, not always very popular in mass media and masses, but everybody who's interested in music knows them and has got respect for them.
Their music is a little world music, a little etno. Many drums and percussion instruments, that's why they're "drum freaks". I was once on their concert and it was really great.
But the point is - Wallis recorded full record with them!
It is "Smyrna", it was published in 2003 in Poland. I don't know why I haven't seen earlier that Wallis plays with them...
Here are some informations about it:
http://drumfreaks.mp3.wp.pl/?tg=L3Avc3RyZWZhL2FydHlzdGEvMTI0MTAuaHRtbA==
But these are Polish media and you may not understand what is written there If you want, I can translate more and put some available samples from CD in topic "Search & find".

Czendo - Is this something new or do they have new material?, because the news about Wallis with Drum Freaks is pretty old. I think I remember it surfacing in 2001, 2003 and 2005 on various Jamiroquai sites. I posted something last year on the official site forum about it too I believe. _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

I haven't seen that. When I read that nobody knows what's going on with Wallis for years and then I found album "Smyrna" (2003) I thought this is something unknown. If isn't - sorry for making troubles _________________

Oh, no problem. I just thought a new song came out and I thought Wallis's work with Drum Freaks was common knowledge. I think back in 2001, a few people from the Polish Jami community got to meet him when he was performing with Drum Freaks. That goes far back..I don't remember.
You should translate Czendo for those that don't know the info _________________ www.dee34.wordpress.com |

Okay - could someone ask the band to play in Ibiza in August please!? That would make me one happy bunny! (preferably between 17 and 22 please!)
I'm so funny! No, seriously - When are Jamiroquai going to play somewhere I can afford to take the whole family? Cos they all want to come! _________________ We could have saved the Earth but we were too damned cheap.

oh, I can answer that, although I am not a bandmember!
There are no concerts planned at the moment (except the one in Korea, but this is not confirmed), as the guys are working on the new album. When it is finished they will do a world tour and I am pretty sure they will also play near your place. This won't happen before 2009, I guess, though...! _________________ ~ I look up to Heaven, every star I see is mine.
