I understand your point of view Zsoma, it's a little like the boycott of the Beijing' olympic games, great event, symbol of freedom and fraternity in a rather anti-democratic country.
But in the other hand those situations allow to talk about those political/freedom problems. And it can produce strong symbols, like the victory of the black american champion Jesse Owens in 1936; in front of Hitler or even the black gloves in 1968.

Really? Is this what your country thought when you possessed our country for 40 years and you broke down the revolution in 1848 and 1956..........?

I think the correct word to use is not "you" but "political leaders" cause I don't think Funkiroquai or any georgian possessed much things in this times, like all the people in the CCCP countries, Russian included...

but a country where corruption and censure is a political asset should not preach me about true victory and fair play...

What a people have to do with corruption and censure ? They just are the victims.

And back to the football topic, I agree with Funkiroquai, even if you're not pro-Russians, you have to admit that on the field they're very dynamic and offensive, a lot more pleasant to watch than Italy, French etc (wich were the teams I supported)

yep - Spain deserved it! well done Smile

Italy were too negative once again and paid the price. I wouldn't have wanted to see Italy going through if they were going to continue this style as usual.

I think Spain & Germany will be the final although i do like the Russian mentality and attack i dont see them having enought to defeat Spain with a defense like that. Also the Russian fullbacks thrive on getting forward but they leave themselves very vulnerable and will pay for it against Torres, Villa & co.

Russia is built around its Zenit St Petersburg stars but my team Everton beat them in the Uefa cup, hey zsoma Wink

Really? Is this what your country thought when you possessed our country for 40 years and you broke down the revolution in 1848 and 1956..........? Of course you went through cause you had played better than Netherlands, but a country where corruption and censure is a political asset should not preach me about true victory and fair play..... But this is far from the Euro 2008, so I rather finish it Confused .

1) ME??? I wasn't born those days
2) Those time have passed and life goes on and me and my country shouldn't answer for the things happened 100000 years ago. And especially I don't have to answer for those things.
3) I'm not only Russian but also Georgian so I'm not responsible for that
4) Russia and CIS that was our help for the whole world to win over Germany and nazi - why don't we remember that fact
5) If you wish to remember history, then try to remember about one guy, Hitler, and all the Germany - myabe you want to say that all german people have to answer for their past???? Was that their fault??????? According to you logics, that is so and that is CRAZY!!!!!!
6) And don't tell me about corruption - that's a problem in much more countries than Russia. That's just funny.

PS
Think before writing such political bullshit, coz we are talking here about Euro 08, not politics, OK? And take into account that you may hurt people who are here with such posts.

PPS
Sorry for an off-top

thanks suzi & sorry Fra Confused

nobody wants to see a team packing all their players behind the ball and playing for a lucky goal and if not penalties. I think the reasoning behind this was obviously the two missing players - Gattuso & Pierlo.

However Italy have played like this in recent years and Greece did it throughout the last tournament to win it but it's not the way the game should be played in my opinion.

Also i know my opinion isn't worth much as England were never in it but i hope we never play like this. Maybe bacause we wouldn't know how! Laughing

i hope Capello doesn't stifle us. Sad

I'm curious to see what Italy's gonna do without Pirlo, sooner or later he will retire from international football, so Italy needs to find a new maestro for their team as Pirlo's presence is vital for them. They need more creative players in the squad, Ambrosini and Gattuso should say goodbye to the team.
