I wouldn't say I usually get strange questions, but I will say I get a lot of stupid and not really thought out questions...and questions or things that I think are just plain dumb and ignorant.

Like - on abortion...

Are you pro-choice or pro-life?

I think I'm going to write a blog about this one. Of course, I'm for life (pro = for), but I also believe in a woman choosing. It's like pro-choice means anti-life..dumb, dumb, dumb.

Being a woman at 30 with no kids..

Why don't you have any kids?

What the hell? Do I HAVE to have kids? I really want to give these people a smack over the head. As if having kids is the only responsibility a woman can have!

When I wasn't in a relationship for years and wasn't looking for one...

Are you gay?

People would really ask me this...are you serious, idiots!

Oh, and I get a million questions by non-black people about being black. Sometimes, its cool. I don't mind educating people, but then sometimes they are just plain dumb...

Is it okay to say the N word, if I drop the ER?

Ummm, No!

The funniest come about my hair really. A lady in London insisted I had wig because my hair was so nice. Is it not supposed to be nice? LOL
Bear and I still laugh about that. She wasn't being mean, but she insisted I had a wig on.

Also another funny is USA presidential nominee John McCain asking us to vote for him just because he has a woman as a nominated vice president. Idiot...she is still unqualified...good try though.

I get some strange questions from tourists here in Philadelphia often. But, that is okay...I expect that from people that don't live here. But still some of the questions are just ridiculous.

I have a idiot question about hair.
I was at my work when a old woman came to me and said "Oh, your hair it's so nice. It's real?" I was there just looking and thinking:"No, I killed a puddle and now I'm using like a hair!!". I'm very taurus and I really need think many times before answer questions like this...

Nope, it's not dumb! Pro-choice means pro-death!
Women should only be allowed to abort if they were raped!

If you really don't want to have kids at all, don't fuck! That's my opinion.*off-topic*

Tourists, yes they can be funny.
Had a guy today, actually a cute one too, and he wanted to go to "city center".
But i have a busstop called...city center...but he wanted to go to the shops Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Ofcourse i took him to the wrong place, because you never know where a tourist want's to go..if he says center of the world and you go there...you take him!

Dessha and Jana B, looking from a small town/white woman perspective
You Black woman can make your hair into works of ART.
DANG!!!
Talking about stupid questions....it does make me think stupid things like...how many hours, can you sleep with that, and indeed is there a weave in there?
But working in a bigger city, i just enjoy the "art".
Or tell them, that it looks GREAT!

Your post is really disrespectful and judgemental. I usually respect people and their opinions, but not with something offensive as what you have said.

Totally different discussion, and one I am not willing to have on here, since my passion and activism is advocating for women and girls (sexual health, disease, violence) and since the situation is VERY close to me. VERY. The debate on abortion is as old as time. I have no issues with those that say they are against abortion. I do have an issue with being judged and disrespected by anyone though.

Good thing we don't need to know eachother in real life Ophone. Have a good week!

LOL Natalie - It takes forever to masterpiece like a work of art sometimes LOL

Well, when you say that being pro-life and saying pro-choice means anti-life is dumb, dumb, dumb, you are as disrespectful and judgemental as I am. (And this just because I used the f-word in its appropriate meaning.)

Wait a second, if you also consider the use of contaceptives as pro-choice, then I am not against it.
I know, some women will abort even if abortion is illegal. And to avoid they abort in unhygenic conditions, running the risk to get seriously ill or even die, it's better to have a legislation like here in Luxembourg, where women are allowed to abort until the 12th week after the conception.

But the concept of abortion still makes me feel ill.
And I agree with most of the people that sex is fun, but you don't have to forget that its primal use is to make children.

Ahhhhhh, now I understand why you ladies are shocked!
It's because I wrote: "If you don't want any kids at all, don't fuck!"
With you I didn't mean deesh personnally, but I meant it in general.
Instead of "you" I should've written "one".

Sorry deesh, I understand now why you are angry at me!

RE-discovering the original question...

Many times, people asked me for an adress.

Not strange, but this happened to me in foreing cities, far to my home. It seems that I take the impression to know exactly where I am and where I go. Sometimes I must explain at tourists how arrive at some places that I NEVER go (helped with a map).

And in German, when I was coming back at hotel after the Tobit Festival, the taxist asked me "Where are you from", and when I said that I'm Spanish, he turn on the light in car and watched me surprisly, saying "Serious? you look so pale for be Spanish girl."

OMG, not all Spanish people are tanned with dark hair! But I accept that I have a pale skin.
