But as far as I know Catalan, Spanish and Galician are all three languages issued from Latin, so it's perhaps understandable people see Catalan and Galician as Spanish dialects, even if they aren't.

The Basque language on the other hand is totally independent, a language on its own unique in Europe. (As far as I know.)

and in euskera: poliki hitz egin, mesedez.

Saying that euskera is not a language is a completely stupid thing, because i doesn´t come from latin, and the exact origin is not actually known (it´s supposed to have visigoth roots, but it can´t be proved)

The main problem here in Spain is not seing these languages/or dialects like languages o dialects. The main problem normally comes because with each opinion goes a political idea. I think it´s not very good to start explaining here our own point of view, because in Spain there are a lot of mad persons who make politics using a language/dialect like a weapon.

I´m not agreee with that idea, the culture should be for free, and for everyone who wants it.

Some think that euskera shares the same roots as etruscan language, but unfortunatelly not much is known of etruscan to be sure.

Jamirokaki, I knew you were polite, I was just kidding. Wink And no, it wasn't you. Only if you were in sevilla the summer of 1989. Or was it a year later....

Yes, I know it. Latin became ant Indoeuropean and Euskera (Basque) became at another language. I heart that has celtic roots, but it isn't sure, 'cause is a really ancient language.

At last, say that all languages that became at Latin are dialects is an error, 'cause with this idea Italian, Spain and French are Latin' dialects.
