Bass on Space Cowboy
I'm actually pretty sure this has been discussed to death, but since I searched the forum in vain, here it goes:
Do we know for sure who played bass on the album version of Space Cowboy? I've heard rumours about Randy Hope-Taylor and Andrew Levy...
Besides: what version of Space Cowboy do you prefer? I can't really decide - the album version has such a brillantly sophisticated bassline but the Stoned Again version grooves a little harder in my ears... _________________ www.jamirolike.de

yes it been discused but nobody knows who was, appart from the "clever" nickname "mr x" (wich reminds me to homer simpson in the net)
i always loved both stoned again and album version of space cowboy, and specially both basslines, but i didn't know it wasn't stu playing on album version until few years ago so i know my desition was truly objective when decided my prefered version:
space cowboy stoned again
p.s. in fact a decision like this in never objective, it's subjetive to me, but i meant it was not decided because a pressure for the love to stu. _________________

no one knows the guy's name. if you check the stuartzender.net forums, kevin lindsay, who knows paul turner asked paul to inquire. the only thing derrick mckenzie and jay remember about mr.x is that he was a 'fat black guy', which is neither andrew levy nor randy hope-taylor. |

Would be this guy installed on the bass at the time?

Well that guy certainly fits the description
I just joined this Forum, just to ask this question of *Who is Mr X', weird!
But I can't understand why this is still a mystery
Just who is Mr X? |

or Juan Nelson (one of the best bassist I've ever heard... Listen to Ben Harper's "Fight For Your Mind" album... and check the live version of the track "Fight For Your Mind"... There's always an amazing bass solo on it)
He's probably not the guy playing on Space Cowboy but anyway... _________________ Max. |
