Jay was born in England as identical twin. His brother died few weeks after birth.
He is the son of Karen Kay, an english jazz singer and a portuguise father (musician as well). Their relationship separated before birth and Jay grew up without knowing his father. Although some short years ago he tracked him down and as far as I have heard they met only once.
Karen Kay (herself adopted, so there is no further family) took her only son always with her. Even when he was a baby, when she was touring through the world singing. They lived on few money, sleeping in cars and cheap hotels. In the beginning of the eighties Karen Kay back in England got her own show on BBC.
Watching his mom every night on stage singing and being therefore nearly born into the music business had been influenced Jays life from the start.
These points just for shorthand first information.

Hi..
I don't know where, but i read someting about jay's origins. It said that jay's father was portuguese, but his mother was english. Therefore, he only met his father a few years late. His parents should be very proud about their son...! |

that's right, his father is from Portugal and was a jazz musician, too. I can only imagine what it was like for the two of them to meet for the first time. I wonder if they keep in touch. I wonder what his mums tv show was like. What was the name of it? I've seen a few photos and she is a beauty. I've never seen a picture of his father. WHat was his dad's name? Luis Silveira I read about it in Wikipedia.
