Yes, that is true without any doubt!
Although it would be easier for many people because Jamiroquai would be finally a guy
Well, when I added Jay Kay in that list, I actually had in mind that the other bandmembers would buy all Jamiroquai copyrights from Jay, but that is highly impossible to happen! |

You forgot one bandmember, and he's gone
Hello,
Hey, you forgot one bandmember there in this poll...The Buffaloman ! And by the looks of his appearances in the yonder years of Jamiroquai, I think he'll stay a incert for all press functions, single and albums covers, and other pubicity. Hmmm....I wonder how much the Buffaloman is paid? Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000

Hey all,
my guess would be that no 'major' band member will leave now - Jamiroquai will simply come to an end... Like other's have said - 'no Jay, no Jamiroquai'. It's that simple. There's no chance that jamiroquai would continue without him because to the general public (i.e people who dont actually know too much about Jami) Jamiroquai is Jay Kay.
I can't even care to remeber the amount of times that people have said to me 'yeah, i think Jamiroquai is wicked' - 'Jamiroquai has a wicked voice' etc etc... and then I try to explain that Jamiroquai are a band and not just one person... _________________ Bass Transcriptions coming soon! |

that's so true, merrsaj. i keep talking about jay with my workmate and she actually said "can't you just say jamiroquai? i keep forgetting who you mean by jay." and then i have to keep explaining that it's not all one person. >_> _________________

I agree with the others when they say No Jay, no Jamiroquai. But with that being said, I assume the members of Jamiroquai (especially Jay) are locked into what's left of the 8 album deal. Jay and the bandmembers probably got a big advance payment for signing that big record deal, so they are required to fulfill it. If they don't, they have to pay a ton of money back to Sony. Prince got into that same problem with CBS records back in the mid '90s and had to pay CBS a lot of money to get out of the deal. So if Jay quits, Jamiroquai fails to exist, and all the band members will probably have to pay Sony back a lot of cash.
My only other question is, do any of the band members have families? That was the reason Toby left right? And I think Stu had a kid by the time he left true?. So if anyone of the band members have families, the constant touring and being away from the family could make a band member quit. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... Jaminneapolis, from my knowledge, Jay is the only one strapped down to the deal with Sony! He employs the band members and thats why they are free to come and go as they wish, as they do.
Im sure by now, any advances and recoupements owned back to Sony have been paid. I mean, Jay has all these cars and a big house so i'm guessing he's already sorted that out;-)
Don't know about other band members with Family's, although I think Derrick does? It's still all a bit unclear why Stu left - the 2 main reasons were family and money!!! _________________ Bass Transcriptions coming soon! |

Merrsaj,
Thanks for clearing that info up for me. I do diasagree that all advances have been paid back. He got an advance based on recording 8 albums, and he'll owe that money back if Jay doesn't record 8 albums as Jamiroquai. If he fulfills the deal, Im pretty sure that money is his to keep. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

Jay wouldnt have got advances for all 8 albums...bands or artists only get advances for the album they are working on...and think about it - Jay has his own studio! He does'nt needed to pay for studio time, he has the same producer he has always used, im sure he has in-house engineers and im sure the band members dont ask to be paid at the end of the day - and when they do, as Jay has said, he pays them out of his own pocket. _________________ Bass Transcriptions coming soon! |

well who will be the next.... donno....
who i really miss is toby smith.......
i think he had a big (perhaps the biggesst ) influence on jamiroquai music...
i ´m curiious about who has written the tracks on the new album....
i would be sad if derrick or sola would leave the band....
rob or alex (if he exist.. ) ... I wouldn´t be that kind of unhappy... they are changeable.....sounds hard.... i know but they are the "newest" members....
Jamiroquai is jay _________________

Well, let me just pount out again that this isn't question about who you want to leave Jamiroquai or who should leave or anything like that.
Well, I choosed Sola. Why did choose Sola? Let me explain.
He's been in a band long time and so far, I could find only one song he participated in (great Use The Force). I don't know, maybe he choosed this, maybe it's something else. But, I don't think this man is appreciated enough!! And besides, great percussion days of Jamiroquai are over!
He has his own band, Yoruba Jazz People. I don't know if he has family so I can't tell what his wife thinks about that
But, if he would leave, that would be huge loss for Jamiroquai! And it's probably hard to find good percussionists these days, well, at least harder than guitar or bass player.
And after Sola, I think Derrick would be my second choice. Why? He has family with two little kids. But still, I won't think he'll leave since he's really good friend with Jay and drums are essential part of every band!
Why in my opinion others wont't leave?
Rob: He's new, he had part in writing 5 (!) songs on AFO and he really did good job on tours!
Matt: Haha, nobody choosed him. Good, he came on Toby's place and did really good job!!!
Alex: He's newest memeber, probably full of energy and wants to show himself! He would leave band only if he weren't as good as other want!
Jay: Hehe, Jamiroquai is his philosophy. And besides, would you leave goose that lays golden eggs?
That is of course not my wish for Sola to leave! We'll see how the new album sounds and then we'll know more. |

The sad and sorrowful parting of ways, Toby, Stuart and finally Nick and regretful. And trying to find a silver lining to these clouds, I can only hope that it was for the greater 'better' of Jamiroquai.
I cannot chance a vote at who would be the next to depart. But something gives me the feeling that perhaps the most forebearing member is Rob Harris, he would be my last choice as the next member to go.
I would like to think that professional matters were what were the reasons for the former members leaving and not personal matters. I would like to keep a happy Jamily image that they all still are friends and still maintain contact with eachother.
If a new member were to join, I would like to see a female infilitrate their ranks !!! And not just as a back up singer, no as part of Jamiroquai. I saw a piccy of Buffalomen playing different instruments as if in Jamiroquai, and the Buffaloperson on the drums had pigtails (her hair tied in bows) - that really made an impact on me !!! I can't remember off hand were I saw it, but I will try and dig it up for you chaps (and chapesses - ).
God forbid our sacred Jamiroquai would crack and crumble into a 'one-man show', that image of a "Sir" JK on his own. The problem is, is that the majority of lay-folk wouldn't even know the difference. It's time to up the campaign of presenting Jamiroquai as a whole and not just as "Sir" JK.
I hope the new album and tour's theme will respect the publicity for the whole, and likewise all the merchandise being 'band-friendly'.
I have a great respect for each of them, and I sincerely hope that newcomer Alex can find his niche and excell.

Well, it seems this poll is closed for now
So, the results show that most of you think Rob will be next to leave the band. Hm, that ius at least for me quite strange because we'll have now "rockier" album and he really fits well in band. He had big part in creating AFO!
He really did well in tours so I think he feels comfortable now in Jamiroquai.
Well, second choice with same number of votes is no one wil leave the band. Well, from your mouth to God's ears |

I hate to say it but it's only a matter of time before JK has a total meltdown and gets rid of everyone and either just does solo stuff or have an entirely new cast of members. Of course then again is is getting older and hopefully is maturing as well. If that's the case then the band will be together for a while. But Jay is definitely the "wild card" of the band because you simply can't predict what he'll do next _________________ I used to worry about the future
