Hello, everyone!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sol and I'm 21 years old (22 pretty soon). I was born in Peru and consequently lived there for the first 20 years of my life until I started atrending UofT, in Canada. My English is pretty good, but if you feel like talking to me in Spanish, by all means, do so.
Born in '87, I was very young when EOPE and TROTSC came out. However, I was about 10 years old, visiting some friends when I discovered JMQ through TWM. My friends owned the CD and decided to play the first three songs for me. From that point, I was hooked. However, the JMQ first album I ever owned was Synkronized. Fun fact #1: The format was a casette. Yes, as in, magnetic tape. Things can take a bit to update in South America. Oh well, at least you could play it in the car all the time. Fun fact #2: Being around 12, without much Internet access and unaware of the drama involved with the departure of Stuart Zender from the band, King For A Day became one of my favourite songs in that album. Even now that I know the story behind it, I can't say I don't like it. In any case, I purchased the previous albums in a heartbeat, and the new ones followed suit as they were released.
As many members here must know, being a jamirofan in South America is quite a different experience when compared to Europe (more gigs, usually the first place to tour and so on). In my particular case it was even harder, since they always visited bigger countries like Brazil and Argentina, and it's harder to find people who know the band. But it's always a joy when you do, or when you introduce people to the band and create new jamirofans in the process. Now that I live in Canada, I can't wait for the release of the new album (I was looking for info about it when I stumbled upon this page... and then had a bit of a delay with the confirmation email ^_^) and for them to start touring again. Hopefully they'll visit Toronto and I'll be able to see my first Jamiroquai concert (and finally die in peace, lol)!
So... that's my story. It's pretty long as it is, so I'll leave it at that.
I look forward to becoming an active member of this beautiful and funky community!
