Just noticed that the downloadable version isnt the same version as the 41sec-youtube-"walk on" version.
The "walk on" version has a longer bit of "its not easy to control it" x 3, where the downloadable only has that once, and then it skips the word "it" the last times. Check it out from 2.55.
The downloadable also lacks of chorus on some bits.
There are some diffs, thats for shure but the "walk on" sounds better to my ears ...if anybody cares...
It might be a "leakt" pre-version.
EDIT: some fact-faulties

I like the new track, but it feels like I've heard the entire song after only one minute. It lacks soms surprising elements, like a brass section or that cheerful jamiroquai-guitarsound. But, anyway, it is very funky |

Back from 3 weeks holiday...
Listened to the 40 sec clip on youtube a few times when I was on the internet and I must say it excited me. It reminded me of Dynamite and DGHAC. It makes me nervous: new material! I didn't believe it was a remix.
Now I've read all your comments and bought the complete song. 3:35? I remember a quote of Jay (a few years ago) he was tired of Sony: "We have songs of 6-8 minutes and we have to shorten them to 3:30 min songs....!"
Who can explain this? The complete song doesn't impress me at all, only the last chorus. Maybe it has to grow, like Dynamite (the song) did.
One more thought of me (or is it a wish?) which I haven't seen yet I guess. In the past Jamiroquai played 'new' songs on their gigs before the release of the new album. An example is 'A Funk Odyssey' or 'Funky Oddysey' which has been played a few times. It should've been the title track of AFO, but it has never reached the album. Is it possible this can happen to RDLS? RDLS doesn't impress me at much at all...
Let's wait until the complete album will be released. |
I share this feeling, let's wait for the new album... _________________ www.thisispeggy.com

If, as I suspect, it's main purpose is to fill dancefloors and get people talking about Jamiroquai again, I think it's gonna be quite successful. No doubt there'll be something just a tad deeper on the album - there always is! _________________

In spite of the supposed artistic liberty given to the band, there is unfortunately a commercial logical for Mercury! WKR belongs to it: accessible music for masses with hoping that they would buy the new concept complex album.
Remember in 1999, Synkronized was illegally uploaded before its release and it almost cost the life to the band because Sony didn't want published a new album next and prefered a best of. Jay has to stuggle with the record company to make A funk Odyssey.
Please do not upload the new stuff illegaly it's unfair for the band which has surely working hard to make Rock Dust Like Star. _________________ "People find it's hard to be strong, cos' they don't know where they're coming from" |

I think with their real funk style (from the live performances last summer) they would get much more commercial succes: they would be the only really famous band creating good old funky music. WKR sounds so ordinary like Jason Derulo or something. |

I don't blame those who uploaded to youtube. Seriously, do you believe it would stay out of the tube? "Wake up! WAAAAAAAAAKE UUUUUP!!!" (the Machine, R. A., 1999)
Many fans doesn't even speak/understand English well enough to understand an online buy. I guarantee you that here on Brazil and South America there are true fans just like in Europe.
Don't blame the fans. Blame the apple store, the recording companies and all those who never gave attention to our market. What happened? Unpaid Music download is now the norm here. It's easy to point fingers at the others when YOU have the means to support your favorite band and we don't.
Times have changed. Artists MUST simplify the access to their content, and charge reasonable prices (long live and global coverage to the Apple and Amazon MP3 stores!). That, my friends, is the only way to fight piracy: ease of access and guaranteed quality.
Real fans will buy what they can buy. I've been a fan of Incognito for +6 years, but you don't find their albums here in Brazil... On the first opportunity I got to buy one their albums, I did. _________________ "Sit, back, kick that switch and hyper zoom!"

Auwch... My German isn't the best but good enough to understand most of this and well the marks at the end for the single say it all...
They kinda have the same criticism as has been posted here by numerous people.
I hope that this is not going to be a trend... |
