TV documentary and album box set!
| Quote: |
UK music industry magazine/paper Music Week recently published a news story about Jamiroquai's move to Universal Music and some of the plans for the current album promotion. Here are a few highlights...
The band discussed creating their own label with several possible investors but ultimately decided the timing was not right to go down this route.
"We felt we needed infrastructure and particularly international infrastructure which was offered by Universal," she [Jamiroquai's Manager] explains. "Conversations were had with other majors but Jay clearly wanted a change. Universal has the muscle and Mercury chimed the biggest chord with us. People might say it wasn't the most obvious choice, if there is such a thing, but that's what we liked."
Regarding the new album, Mercury Music president Jason Iley has said that the company has worked hard on the right campaign and strategy for the release, which will include a television documentary tracing the history of the band.
Other plans include "an exclusive live show for fanclub members and competition winners" and in addition to the jamiroquai.com website being the "centre of the promotional drive" there are "discussions under way for moves such as crop circles of Jamiroquai's Buffalo Man as well as a national and regional press campaign." Fans can also expect to see video clips of Jay and band doing various things such as flying helicopters and in-studio footage.
Finally it was announced that he album will be available as a CD, LP and a deluxe boxed set, which will include a lyric sheet, numbered print and exclusive pictures of the band.
The full article is available in the 23 August issue of Music Week (UK). |

I was thinking about that... well, jamirotalk would deserve to be called THE fanclub... don't you think?
But I guess they mean the members of the official site (the forum members)... |

I totally agree! No other place with so many hardcore and loyal fans
I signed up for the newsletter but I am not a member of the board of the official site. I do read there but to me the discussions are more about drooling on JK and girls offering themselves to him than any discussion with content. I don't mean it in a bad way, it's good that there is a place for people to do that but personally I am not interested in this.
I love the crop idea but isn't it a bit late with autumn waiting just around the corner? All the promotion is confusing me... seriously |

i think its fair to say that both sites are dedicated to JMQ and support their music
both have members who are casual fans, hardcore fans and even obsessive fans
if there will be contests on winning tickets, backstage pass or anything JMQ-related, then both sites should team up and help choose the winners _________________ I think it’s time to find a new religion |

Hello,
Well, Universal MAY have fucked up in the beginning 'promotions' of RDLS, that is the ONLINE ones , but this article does flesh a nice promotion strategy for the new album . Though I think they will have to rely on whatever material JK and the current line-up can yield for a possible Jamiroquai Documentary, still don't know who the heck can respectively produce this...maybe BBC . But I do like the idea of more 'Official Site contests & concerts', but after the June Debut 2010 debacle, they better be a little more well planned and promoted . Great news spot, Princenpg, cheers !
Sincerely,
