Bad promotion: What about the 6th album?
Hello Jamirotalkers,
I was thinking about the bad promotion of the previous albums... and we're almost a month from the album release and not even a poster around...
Is this Jay's fault? Sony? Which one is it? I guess if it is Sony's fault, Jay should do something about it! He and the band could get harmed (commercially speaking)!
And I was thinking too: if the single is Black Devil Car.. isn't a little bit contradictory that Jay lost his driver's license? People are gonna laugh at him when they listen to the lyrics 'driving around in my Black Devil Car..'.. I know I will!!!
What do you think??

Well, to be picky, it's closer to 1 and a half to two months... But still. I looked to see if it was available for preorder on amazon (I checked .com and .co.uk), and it didn't even list a CD with title "tba" or anything! I don't know, you guys... I just hope that it doesn't get pushed out further... |

Well u are trully right about this,it is a contradictory, and bit strange! We don't know nothing if the single will be the BDC ...we got to wait for that! ok ok we already saw that is BCD in many sites telling that will be the single of realese of album, but the band can choose another to put playing in the Television (not only the radios) , the radios too!
About the televison...there is the video clip.. ..maybe in this time Jay need the car (maybe enzo , obvius) to make the clip for Black Devil car!
Well maybe th best is to do something like Space Cowboy Video and put the Shoot the Moon on playing(we also don't know nothing about this song..if is on the next album or not!)
And the name for that stuff? we don't know nothing!
About the promotion of the album , i don't know who to blaim..Jamiroquai! Sony! And about the site..that guys was very stupid..they could let a simple page saying anything about the site..if was shutdown..or to update!
and u will see , the only news that we gonna have about it , will be only for october..and the site will only open when the single cames for the first time to the radios , or only when Album came to stores! _________________ hooked up |

Haha, but he can still drive around in his black devil car.
Well, not on driver's seat Eee, that seat on the left. How is it called? Well, I'll say co-pilot seat
Otherwise, you're right about everything you wrote. I didn't think about that.
I don't think Sony will give lot for promotion. And besides, as I wrote in some topic some time ago, I don't want Jamiroquai to become famous. You know, MTV famous. That would really suck.
I'm now ptretty special here because I listen to Jamiroquai. Can you imagine what will happen if anyone will listen to Jami?

Funk Odyssey was Jam's most radio-ready, top 40, light-as-a-feather pop outing in their careers. It didn't make a dent on MTV here, and the Little L video was only seen for x number of weeks on MTV2.
mtey, I think "MTV famous" probably isn't in the cards. You can breathe easy.
Still, it'd be funny to see people walking around wearing furry hats with giant metal spikes on top of them. Trendy MTV punks.... _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does. I really, REALLY hope that it wasn't planned as the first single, or we could be in for some devestating delays _________________

Any publicity is good publicity . . .
Do you remember when that British Actor - Hugh Grant, was caught in the back of his car in a seedy side street somewhere in California in the middle of a transaction and completion of contract with an enterprising woman (who was not his wife or girlfriend). That was very close to the openening of a new film for him and one would have supposed that it would have been negative publicity (typical because he's male and doing the 'male' thing !!!)
I was impressed by Pearl Jam's PR and FR. Does this mean that I will have to change my tastes in music to something other than Jamiroquai . . . !!!
I have mentioned before on JTALK, how my daughter has an @eminem.com e-mail address. It's the attention to detail and personalism that makes you feel that your fanship is not just recognized but appreciated - and dearly at that !!!

Sorry I didn't mean to wander there about the Pearl Jam thing, that's another thread but the same viiiiiiiiiiiiiiibes are pertinent here.
If the PR machine was effective, would we the hard core fans be getting the goods and the promotionals first ??? Well we should, because we are the ones who are prepared to pay, pay, pay and pay big money to get the Jamiroquai things that are our delight. We are not just casual 'oh, let's buy their new album' types, are we ???
And FCOL !!! The sites like Jamirotalk, funkin.com Frenchiroquai, and Mtey.com should be getting some respect for their dedication and being treated to 'goodies' news-wise and to promotional nick-nacks that could be given away in various ways.
A little laid out goes a long way, imagine our response to some decent fan appraisal like I just mentioned !!! And we would be prepared to pay out more next time around. |

I think what Supersonic said holds a lot of weight with me. I get the feeling maybe Black Devil Car, or Wouldn't Ya Like, or Cannabliss might not be the sone they try and sell albums with. And maybe that's why it's causing delays and cloudiness with the release of this album.
They might be tryin to still decide which song to go with, ro maybe they're tryin to do one last pop friendly song on the fly. If they can't find one, Clear Channel (They own at least a third of all U.S. radios stations) will give 'em no love, and the album will hit in the U.S. with a thud again. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... You cannot blame Sony for doing bad promotions. It´s one of the first record labels and they´re in the top becouse of something.
Anyway, it doesn´t make any sense to start promoting one album almost two months before it´s realease.
About the official site...
They should have sent us an email saying what´s going on, but I don´t really care if it´s down for 1 month more... I didn´t visited the site for about 1 year, and the migration of people from J-talk to this forum is something for being happy |
