Great! Let me ask you, with the release of the demo tapes the other day, I know it holds out hope for more unreleased material. But in your dedicated opinion, do you think we will ever get 'Midnight Funk'? |

I don't really know about the legal situation, to be honest. Sony might have the rights for Midnight Funk?! Or is it Jay? If Sony still has the rights, I don't think we can share it here openly.
Anyways, it was a good idea to bring this to the attention of the band. This would be a good topic to talk about with Jay, if one of us is going to meet him backstage at the coming gigs. |

I don't think Sony can own the rights to a song that was never "completed." If the contract states anything along the lines of "anything you write is gonna be ours" then yes, otherwise its intellectual (and private) property... either way, probably not a good idea, but Jay seems like a nice guy.
I really can't see how Sony could own a song that was never published by them. Also, I can't honestly believe that Sony wouldn't have released as much material as possible when they knew Jamiroquai's contract was coming to an end. So the likelihood of it being their's is slim.
It could also partially be Zender's which means... well, it means something... if anyone has this tape and wants to give me a  I'll be  about it (ha ha ha)
