The album isn't even out yet. We've only heard 1/3 of it. Driftin' Alone.
I think the background girls vocals are great. Seems like a lot of groups used this years ago. Not so much today. Adds depth to the sound. |
The female vocalists age their sound. Prior to their inclusion J had a more youthful and masculine sound because it was he and he alone. He could actually recapture that by getting rid of them. |

great tune, it reminded me deeper underground, i think it could do well in the charts
i love the old jmq, none of these new tracks can beat the creativity behind the first 3 albums but that cant keep us from enjoying this new stuff that still is better than 90% of the music coming out these days |
Well said.
I thought I was the only ''deaf'' one to consider this similar to ''Deeper Underground''... It's not bad, but it isn't that fantastic either. Just average.
That said, this is better than anything the likes of Boringcé and Lady Blah Blah could ever produce... |

Maybe it's some professional deformation (i've had like tons of voice and song education), but I don't like the way which Jay forces his voice here. Know the intention on it and works, 'cause that sound and lyrics is like "a loser song", but I still wondering that he'd needed some better resources to work his voice in the way to have a huskier and lower tune. For me sounds overacted. _________________

Disagree - his voice isn't strong enough to carry the whole song in some cases. He did a smart thing by hiring them. |

you serious? you're just not being honest about his live performances these days. he's still awesome but come on, if they weren't there, things might sound a little thin. his voice is not as powerful as it used to be - read 'sound on sound' magazine interview's with his sound engineer, mike nielsen. even he admits jay's voice is on the weak end, and they have to really pump him in the mix. |

i listen today so much this song and i really like it
btw, maybe is true that his voice is now weak, after all the smoke and cocaine from years ago, so i dont mind if he need back singers, as long as jamiroquai can be alive.
i never forgot jay kay started this band, chosse the musicians and when or who must left, so if years are coming trough, is just life.
we cant change it, just see if we like or not. _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time

@ robotscantadlib -I am not laughing at you or making fun of the comment! Could be.
My opinion -I don't know if I think his voice is strong or weak. His voice is fine for me. But I do like the backup singers regardless!

Jay's voice make me cringe sometimes. He clearly lost a lot of range. Thank god for the back up singers ! |

True. These things (cigarettes and cocaine) do take their toll on the voice. |

It has!
