No more haunted houses!it's blank now Gina! (i know you are Gina, right )
You know what, they're about to change the forum (JPP) display too Gosh i already fallin' for that purple-pinkish color tone ..
And! i will hold all my opinion till the album come, listening 3-4 songs teaser doesn't figure out the "story" of the whole album, well i just avoid myself to make a "premature" judgment. |

[quote="Mocha319"]I'm sorry...but didn't Jamiroquai start with Jay? And then he acquired everyone else..
| Quote: |
I don't know any of the band members (including Jay) personally, I have not walked in their shoes or lived their lives for them. So I would never preconceive to speak to what they feel or care about or don't, what family they have or don't and if they communicate with them or how. How computer literate they are or are not...so why are you? |
I was reluctant to answer this, but hey, as iranterres is the only objective guy here (neither honeybee, nor you and I are objective, you're white, I'm black) I will try and paraphrase this.
First: Jamiroquai started with Jason, yes, nothing wrong, it's just that the concept's been sold (by him or whoever) as a band, when it's Jason and company, I only said that the picture is not cool IMHO (as in humble opinion of MYself) and demonstrates this fact, which I see you agree on, it's always been Jaymiroquai, technically I love the photo, concept-wise, not.
I don't know any bandmembers too personally either, but you don't have to be a genius, I doubt J's mother is on facebook (I could be mistaken) and his kids aren't either (what kids btw?)...his siblings aren't there (cus there aren't any) and his wife as well (again..which wife?) and there's like ONE single post of his on the net EVER...what makes you think it's gonna change? just cuz facebook is trendy now doesn't mean he's gonna join us, especially when I bet he has different interests (what makes him an illiterate on this topics, not because he's ignorant, but probably because he's just not interested, see definition of illiterate: : showing or marked by a lack of acquaintance with the fundamentals of a particular field of knowledge) and don't tell me he probably keeps it low-key, cuz British paparazzi's are better than the FBI and Jason has has trouble keeping it low sometimes (again, I could be totally mistaken here)
Other bandmembers use the net to contact us (as well as their friends and family), Derrick has always been approachable and so on, nobody in that band is close to being a MEGA star like Jason, he is waaaaaaaayy bigger than them, he's got to keep that untouchable-star status (it's part of his product, his brand)...being apporachable on the net would probably raise his worth with us, but would no doubt dimish his status as a star for everyone else.
Have you ever had something you wished so badly...it stops being as incredible once you have it right?...same here, I have to say, that this is probably the most correct theory (along with he doesn't care too much about surfing the net) I have to admit, Jason is a genius (musically and marketing-wise) so he won't lower his worth just by appearing here.
Does this make sense?
Now @HoneyBee...my man iranterres explained it with detail, discussion as in, we trade opinions back and forth, different opinions, otherwise you might as well call this "the forum to praise anything that jamiroquai releases just because it's got the brand jamiroquai on it", this is a place to talk, why aren't you american? first amendment sister! why do I have to walk away?
Say you are loyal to a soup brand, they suddenly stop making that chicken soup you love and the only product they have is a new tuna soup that you can't eat because..you're allergic to tuna..
Would you buy it because of the label?...hmm..I'm unsure
And about "hope", guess what? I SURE DO HAVE hope, hey, a new release by this band that I love so much (it hurts me when they have changed so much) to me love means I'd tell you you're doing things wrong if you're my beloved friend, a bad friend would let you walk down the wrong path keeping his mouth shut so as to not "hurt" the friendship
Believe me, their live act is AS AMAZING as ever, I'm gonna be back, first in line to their concerts (if they come) and will do whatever it takes to go backstage, Matt, Rob, Derrick, Sola and the rest are people that I respect a lot, even Jason (as a musician and businessman), I'd definitely ask him about the change of direction and would try and lay down my opinion, I'm not tying to insult anybody here.
@iranterres, obigado amigo! |

Bully, anyone?
Jamirowolf & Iranterres
I know I haven't earned my status to be spewing here yet. But maybe it needed to be said.
Half of the stuff Jamirowolf mentions doesn't matter to me. I don't care about what JMQ does personally. I don't need them to communicate here or on FB! I don't care about their personal lives, actually. This should be private.
I'm not praising JMQ as this is there best work. And remember, it is released incompletely still! And I don't think this forum should only be here for those who like the work. I question why the anger, why such negativity? And definitely got answers.
And this is a forum, I completely understand, open to both sides. And the negative side, if it's real, needs to be expressed. I'm not telling you to walk away because you are negative, only if it is too much. If the music isn't making you happy, don't buy it. But I guess I get if you are upset, this is the place to vent.
And yeah, Chicken noodle soup had been canceled for me before. I stewed a bit. And had to either settle for the tuna, or find another brand, or start eating chicken sandwich. But that memory of the soup still satisfying.
Well I guess we've learned one thing -there is still hope yet! |

Bee, even if it's too much, I have the right to stay here, there's no limit on bitterness on this forum, can I limit your positivity? if it's too much, walk away?...no
Did you find another brand? Same could happen here, get a new band, but as you said, the memories are there and I don't want to walk away from jami, I'm just venting here.
On another note Jason was interviewed today in Mexico, his pit-stop before his flight to Colombia. He allegedly said something about Lady Ga Ga being a marketeable freak, he he.well he got that right. |

Jamirowolf, was that interview broadcasted on tv or radio? I saw photos made by a fan on facebook - do you know more about the interview (have you seen it fully?)
Would be cool if you could give us more info!
(I prepared a thread for it a few hours ago: http://www.jamirotalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9102 )
Cheers,

All I am saying is that you speculate way to much on things you can't possibly know. I think that his mum passed away-I read it in an interview, his father is still living (as last reported) and on the Funkin.com site there was a news posting that stated one of the back up singers is his sister.---(***Win a signed portrait of Jay Kay with proceeds to charityAdded on Sunday 22 August 2010, 07:52 (BST)
Mervin Etienne, an artist living in the south coast of England recently created a portrait of Jay which he is currently running a raffle for one lucky person to win.
The portrait has been signed by Jay (easy when his sister is one of the bands backing singers and at least 50% of each ticket sale will be going to raise money for Rockinghorse - a local charity in southern England for sick childen.
The raffle ends on 30 September and for more information and to see the other signed portraits on offer as part of his 2010 charity raffle please visit artistmerv.com. *****)
But besides that- 'Family' does not have to be people directly related to you, it's people in one's life who you love and care about and who love and care about you, who know your struggles and who you share your intimate thoughts and times with. So we don't know who his 'Family' unit is, not that we should ...that is his business. But to make a statement that he is alone and has no one is speculating way to much when you are on the outside. _________________ Mocha

You're right Mocha. Thanks for correcting me. I take my comments back because they're over-speculating.

Isn't it the sister of the artist who made the portrait? _________________ *Meow* |

His mother is still alive as far as i know. and I thought he had no siblings, since Jay was born due an on-off romance his mom had with a portuguese guy. _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |

Odd...I read in several places he had a twin brother named David who died a couple weeks after being born. _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it. |

First of all, don't believe everything you read. Especially not on 'the internets'.
To set things straight...
Yes, Jay had a twin brother, David, who sadly passed away shortly after being born.
No, Jay has no sister.
Valerie Etienne, the backing singer, is a sister of Mervin Etienne, the artist who did the portrait of Jay.
Jay's mum is still alive and lives happily retired in London as far as we know. _________________ Old school forever! |
