So - I only had chance to listen to every song once so this is only 1st impression, not the ultimate truth. Please, respect that fact and do not blame me after the release date - remember I did not want to do the review this way at first!!!!
RDLS - the album - reggae/poprock/orchestral, pro-american, new-beginning like
Songs:
RDLS better then live
WKR same as single
SaM old-school spinning wheel
AGitH Rappers Delight met BDC
H you know that
BS single edit again
L Jools Holland orchestra
SaFP Sola! Paul! ending-jam!
TCDT "same as Lifeline" or "SDISJ 2nd edition"
GtMD atmospheric reggae, Rob
NGBA "Tallulah 2nd edition" or "blues from bar-club"
HF ... ok, there I will be more specific asi it was the ONE that impressed me more than other songs - this one is nice ballad with killing Sola/Paul very beginning and then the Chris Rea like guitar; then it turns to pop/rock/orchestral part with loads of WTF sounds effects (typical for many songs on album, mostly in "good way" - very Roman Holý like!) and then turns again into DA like song, this time with lyrics and then turns into nice ending with Matt behind his keys. The best choice for single in my oppinion..
So there it is
No other songs were in the stream.
Deluxe version as same as LP version are confirmed for release on 1st November. To date known tracklist of deluxe version was not confirmed yet.
Please, no "more" questions - I will never answer them until 1st November. Hope you understand it!
I have no permission to send there duration of songs but If anyone send there any link where durations are I have permission to confirm it. |

thanks Tlum.
Unfortunately you've never used the word 'funky' or 'jazzy' in it. Too bad.
I'm getting more and more curious now, but I'm also a little bit afraid I won't like it as much as the previous albums. |

Uh huh, that sounds promising, especially the bit about 'Goodbye To My Dancer' being reggae style (Hopefully as laidback as 'Drifitng Along), thank you for the indepth review Tlum, much much appreciated ! Also very interesting you would think this is a 'rebounding new beginning' album for Jamiroquai, well that would be true given it's the first new album on a new label, still, my optimism has been recharged! Thanks again and cheers!
Sincerely,

Hello Tlum,
thank you for this quick review, it's very appreciate!
I know that you're not allowed to give the duration of the song but have you got the impression that the album is "short" (like a funk odyssey) or you felt satisfy with the running time ?
Because 6 bonus tracks on the same cd mean a short album (under 50 minutes) unless the other tracks will appear on a second cd? _________________ "People find it's hard to be strong, cos' they don't know where they're coming from" |

It is not about the lenght of the songs at all. But there is NO long jams as on first 3 CDs, only "songs" (except SaFP ending, but it does not fit with the word long!). And there I am disappointed as I probably misunderstand Jays words from Jazz Cafe / Scala gigs or so..
..there is no instrumental song BTW.. |

Dang, I was hoping "Hey Floyd" would have been a 'long sprawling instrumental'....oh well . Cheers!

Tlum I have a different question.
I remember Dyego (not sure...) once had the chance to listen to the songs of a Jamiroquai album before the official release. After listening to the songs he said he would never do that again in the future. How is that for you? Do you have a good feeling now? Or are you even more curious and trying to remember (parts of the) songs? I think it's very difficult when you hear some catchy or beautiful parts you have to wait a few weeks before you will be able to hear it again! |

I quote myself from my PM 2 Zsoma..

..it is 6 hours from that "left" and the feeling does not change a bit.. |

Maybe it's not the premise 'have we just heard everything' we should be contemplating. In my case, I look at it with a more common sense approach and think 'have we been conditioned OR have our musical interests been conditioned to unfairly be unconsciously biase in our personal expectations/aspirations towards hearing new music from a central band that is our primary musical favorite'. I know there have been about 2 conversations about all the 'different varieties of Jamiroquai fans', and me being of the 'vanguard quality' (I.E. Being more inclined to the new stuff and being able to distinguish more fluidly between what is 'good' or 'bad'), but I think this is something that develops naturally in all music fans, regardless of whatever band we become more kindred to. But, given the current state of the world music mainstream, then your initial thought would be very true Brother Russ, I mean, we bastardize the whole concept of returning to the roots by insulting references, from 'Throwback' to 'Retro', and don't necessary embrace the new music that is direct respectable returns to old music genres that either deserve OR are due for a new movement in it. Just my thoughts....Cheers!
Sincerely,
