Hurtin' remains my favourite up till now but I am nearly as crazy about Hey Floyd. I do feel a bit disappointed about RDLS, not rocky enough for me. _________________ *Meow* |

'Hey Floyd' is my favourite intro too but i can't yet properly judge it all by just 30 seconds, i need to have the full album for a couple of weeks. I am a massive fan of strings as they always tug at the heart strings.
I am also getting a strong link between 'Hang it Over' compared with 'Love Blind' - very playful.
"Jelly head rubber with the glassey eyes" is "All black leather like a disco bitch, 5ft 9 with yer ruby lips" _________________

Hello
I've never stop listening this group since 1994. And what i can say here it's Whaooo !!! ....
I listened yesterday those snippets, and it looks like really good ! A new departure for this group ?! .... For me, it's better than Synchronized, AFO, or Dynamite.
It's a rebirth ! This album will work as well as the Space Cowboy or EOPE album.
I already dance on Hang it Over !
Thank you Jamiroquai ..... You're back for real i'm quite sure !

I'll rate the songs when the album is out for real.
But after having listened to those snippets I might say that the album seems to become good after all, even with RDLS and Hurtin' on it.
I'm happy! |
It's almost the same for me: I haven' been listening to those snippets (but it's VERY HARD) and I feel a little relieved after these "black capricorn days!"
I think, after the released of the album , we'll have to create a special Apologize topic to the band! _________________ "People find it's hard to be strong, cos' they don't know where they're coming from"

I found 5 snippets very very promising
She's A Fast Persuader, Hey Floyd, Lifeline, Two Completely Different Things, and seriously, i felt impressed with Hang It Over because it seems so much with Stevie Wonder, it reminded me those good old days of Songs I The Key Of Life _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |

Well now... I really shouldn't have listened to those... no apology to the band yet either... I can't see myself dancing or wanting to be in concert listening to these (like a John Mayer concert, not a lot of energy on stage, just someone standing there singing). I want high energy in my songs (especially Jamiroquai songs, and although Jay is older, that energy doesn't have to leave the music). Otherwise I'd listen to classical music (not dissing classical music, I love myself some classical music). This is nowhere near the sound I was expecting for an overall album...
That being said I love Hurtin' (I can relate, the general idea behind the song happened to me too), RDLS as well as White Knuckle Ride and I was feeling another song (can't remember which one). I'm just hoping that these 30s clips are really poor sample choices similar to the one from RDLS (who chose that part of the song? why not the chorus, a.k.a. the part where he sings ROCK DUST LIGHT STAR!?)
I'm not angry with the band, but if the people who were upset when Jamiroquai moved from acid jazz closer to electronic music feel like I do now, I understand. You expect a sound and you're disappointed. I can't blame the band at all for this though, sounds change... I blame myself, because I shouldn't have had any expectations for this album, but instead I did and ultimately let myself down.
Anyways... can't make final judgments so take that with a grain of salt... (I also ended up liking the remixes for WKR, which earlier I said I hated so... ya...) _________________

So many comments in 2 days -can't read them all. An apology?
They said they put their All into it! I believe they did, and it had to be good!
They are playing it live as a band. And back to some original grooves. But still have a ballad or 2, and lotsa music to dance to!
So funny how everybody's been flipping out about the released songs so far. It's like getting a few peanuts while waiting for the sundae!

So far SaFP, Lifeline, TCDT, Smoke and mirrors are my favorite. Almost forgot about hey floyd too. I just I wish they wouldve scrapped hurtin, never gonna be another, and blue skies and put out just one ballad. I know hurtin isnt a ballad but its kind of weak in my opinion. Jay can sing about this sappy "oh woe is me" heartache stuff for as long as he wants, but give me some jazz groove behind it like blow your mind. Hurtin', blue skies, and never gonna be another all sound like they were written for those lame American idol winners that no one ever hears from after 6 months. |
