Opening acts
I know there's a similar topic called "supporting acts" in this posting category, but it has an Aussie feel to it.
Some of you might disagree with me, but I think 2 very good options would be 1) Jos Stone, or 2) Beverly Knight.
Beverly Knight is a more obvious choice because of her involvement with AFO and that tour, and also since she has a new album out she has all that material that she could perform as an opening act, and would give her more exposure to a U.S. audience (where she's a virtual unknown except for Jamiroquai fans).
For Jos Stone, she is well known in the U.S. because of her White Stripes cover "Fell in love with a boy", and her successfull "Soul Sessions" album (eventhough it's all covers right?). Im pretty sure she's from the U.K. and she performs a similar kind of music to Jamiroquai. I think it would be cool to see those two on the same bill. She's more versatile for selling tickets than Beverly Knight because more people in the U.S. know who Jos Stone is.
So what are your guys' thoughts on who I suggested, and what are some of your own suggestions? _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

Joss Stone is awesome! She's got a great voice and she's beautiful. I think she'd make a good opening act...I'd also think about Robert Randolph, the steel guitar wizard, and his Family Band. If you haven't picked up the CD, Unclassified, do it-lots of funk, lots of blues, a little bit of gospel and rock thrown in. I think a twinbill between them and Jam with Joss as the opener would make for a fantastic show! _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. It really does. Hehe glad to see we agree on opening acts since we don't agree on football teams lol. Robert Randolph and the Family Band is also a decent choice. Those guys tour like crazy too so I bet they're pretty good live. _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

I take it that you're a Vikings fan since you're from Minneapolis? Please correct me if I'm wrong. _________________ "...I feel that Jamiroquai needs to be taken to another stage now. Beverly Knight would be cool since the U.S. needs to hear her. Robert Randolph and the Family Band would be very cool, but I don't know about Joss Stone. She's good and I like her songs but I have heard too much of her(I work at Starbucks Coffee and she is all over one of the CD's we play). I think she has a good voice but sometimes I think she sounds like shes trying too hard to get that soulful sound out of her. I don't know, thats what it sounds like to me anyways. Have any of you heard of Nikka Costa? She had a CD out like 2 years ago called Everybody Got Their Something and has another CD on the way. But she's got some pretty slammin' songs. She's funky and very good live and I think she might be worthy of opening for Jamiroquai. _________________ This is our corner of the Earth |

In my opinion before a concert, the opening act shouldn´t be another musical person.
I´m not joking, really, have you thinked about a magical open act?
People go to the concerts to listen and see jamiroquai. When i was in Murcia 2003 the "part before " to the concert was too long...It was a famous man with a bass and one Dj but for a lot of people was some boring...and i have to say that the bass was great!
...But usually people are interested in magic just because the time goes speedy and its a good art for get relaxed and amazing.
I dont say that because i´m i magician, i say that with the eyes of a no-magician.Its wat i reali think...I have done magic before a concert twice and people looks happy!
its my opinion... its one idea...

Hello,
Interesting topic, hmmmm, there are so many artists that would be eligible for this spot . Here's a few notable new artists I would like to see Open up for Jamiroquai on their future 2005 World tour:
Butterfly Boucher: Check out her debut album "Flutterby"!!
Maroon 5: 2004 was the year of "Songs About Jane"!!
Joss Stone: Her new album "Mind Body & Soul" is simply breathtaking!!
Scissor Sisters: Dance music with a New York Club edge!!!
There you go, I know, this post shadows my original posts about the best new music of 2004. But I would also like to see Jamie Scott open for Jamiroquai too, JK could do Toby a favor since he produced his whole debut album. Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

Maroon 5 would be a good choice, but at the rate they're going they might eclipse Jamiroquai soon!
Joss Stone would be cool, I wonder what she thinks of Jamiroquai? _________________

Jamirofan,
Good choices, but for Maroon 5, in the U.S. I think Jamiroquai would open for them, because Maroon 5 is much more popular here. I don't think Jamiroqaui will wanna take a backseat to anyone if they tour here, so Maroon 5 is too unlikely. That would be a power pairing though if it could actually be pulled off.
Joss Stone seems to have a lot of concensus in here though. She's popular on both sides of the Atlantic, and Im pretty sure she's from the U.K. So that could be a definate option.
The Scissor Sistors are currently on a club tour in the U.S. (They either just came through Minneapolis or will be this week), so if it's done by '05 that would be one kickass pairing if they'd be up for it. I have succombed to all of your guys' hype on them and finally sampled their album. It's pretty damn good so it will prolly be a future purchase. TY for the advice from all on them.
Butterfly Boucher I have not had a chance to listen to, but I trust your judgement, so I'll check her out.
The Magic suggestion is interesting too. That seems more suitable for a club gig then a big arena or stadium gig. It's different but not a bad idea.
Any more suggestions? _________________ Wouldn't 'ya like... To walk the sunny avenues of life? |

About the magic suggestion i have to say that when the audience is watching a performance, usually the time goes faster and this could be a good factor for the people.
So dont worry, as a lot of friend known, i always carry my deck and in the tour of 2005 i will use before the concers to amaze people....almost....i will try it...
