tense to say the least
OOO great performance, but would be better sounding in a larger venue i reckon.
Oh the judges gave him all dirty looks, cheryl cole gave him a really bad look! Good publicity or not i'm not sure on that ( _________________ "Whats your religion" the man asked

Jay was singing over a backing track. None of the band were playing or the girls singing live. Jay made it quite clear who he was digging out at the end. Even the bug eyed host mentioned something to Cheryl when they came back from the break. |

Both Danni and Cheryl refused to clap after Jamiroquai's performance. In fact, Cheryl had a face like a wet fish...this immature and unprofessional attitude says it all really. I have never watched this programme, but I'm thinking 'what qualifies her to be a judge anyway at such a tender age, with virtually no talent?'. It's a dumb show for dumb people. Quite frankly, X Factor gives me a f**king headache - rather watch Later With Jools Holland.
Personally I'd liked to have seen them perform something less mainstream like Smoke And Mirrors. Anyways, enjoying the new album... _________________ Fan since '92. |

it doesn't really matter what they perform. They are not right for X-Factor, backing tracks etc..
did the record company make him say he's had a great day? he obviously did say some of that stuff in the paper as it was an apology of sorts. _________________

Throughout the entire performance I was nervous. The fact that the band didn't play live only emphasised the "live swagger" that Jay could get away with if only they had played. Otherwise, his voice was too loud in the mix (X Factors awful production) and it was pretty embarassing. In every way that Jay looks great on the big stage with a live band, he looked pretty ridiculous here. This is partially his own fault - but also the fault of X Factor for being the terribly awful TV show that it is. His voice was so disconnected - I was literally shouting at the TV, "turn his f***ing voice down you useless b******s".
This won't send a great message to all those who know little about Jamiroquai or Jay. Ah well... at least I know I love 'em! |

Wooow our Jay Kay wasn't "in the show", neither his voice...

My God I love him in that hat and he looked tight in that suit. He moved quite well, but the rest of the band were about as dynamic as a paused VHS. It's not their fault (X Factor don't have the infrastructure for live instruments it appears) but in this context, Jay Kay looked like how alot of others see him; a silly man who thinks he looks cool but is actually a bit of a joke. I've never seen it until now... I hope he thinks twice about where and how he performs in future.
EDIT: Perhaps he's too big for television and its celebrity regulations? |

Yeah I felt the same nerves! I must admit I was a bit underwhelmed at the first viewing but having watched it back on the ITV Player I don't think it was a bad performance. There are one or two natural quirks to Jay's voice at times with the fast pace lyrics but at least it was delivered without autotune!
Either way it will generate them publicity and given Jamiroquai sells albums, not singles, the Xfactor skeptics who still watch anyway but like to scoff at it (I might have to put myself in that bracket after tonight!) will probably be the type of audience who buy Jamiroquai albums anyway.
Good luck to the band with the new album - samples sound amazing and can't wait for my copy to arrive! |
