| Yeah I felt the same nerves! I must admit I was a bit underwhelmed at the first viewing but having watched it back on the ITV Player I don't think it was a bad performance. |
I think I'm too afraid to go to itv.com and concur with your statements!
He's such a cheeky sod as well, "Well I had reservations about coming here tonight..." haha! He's just not a part of that world and it's sometimes fun to see someone take a shot at these kinds of institution. |

Hahaha clearly we are of like mind! Now that F1 is off ITV I have no reason to watch it at all.
Jay Kay trending on Twitter with comments from tonight's Xfactor - a lot of which being positive. People seem to like the fact he's annoyed the judges! |

ITV has yet to catch up with BBC or Channel 4 - or even Channel 5 for that matter. They're aimed at the lowest common denominator. I'm sorry but I do have my subtle prejudices. Ignorant lives that spawn increasingly ignorant lives that spawn ever increasingly ignorant lives that spawn... etc.
X Factor is the epitome of the cheapening of the "star" or "godlike" status. I'm only 25 but I remember when stars were untouchable; now they're your next door neighbour and his karaoke skills. |

Smills, my English is very poor ( stupid french education, sorry), but I have to say that I admire your comments a lot... _________________ I have always 8 years old when he's less than two meters from me / 1992: birth of a genius

I think my biggest issue with the Xfactor is the part it plays in the news/media in a sort of perpetual circle. So you have Xfactor's Saturday night show creating Sunday's newspaper's p1-5... then you have Sunday's xfactor talking about Sunday's newspaper headlines. Then on Sunday's show you create a bit of pantomime drama which then fills the papers on Monday. Then from Tues-Sat they fill it with "scoops" on the contestants/judges etc.
In many ways Simon Cowell is a genius because to create such a sustained impact on the culture of a country is usually the preserve of dictators. Ultimately, as Jay has alluded to, the lifespan of these acts is short and in Jamiroquai's case will have a huge pool of fans who ultimately his music entertains time and time again. |

Incestuous! It can't last. Like Big Brother. I'm just hoping the killer gene triggers X Factor apoptosis.
Now that was uneccesarily scientific.

We should write columns in the Times. Interesting to see iTunes Store now has White Knuckle Ride for download in UK. Clearly Mercury wanting to make sure people who liked it tonight can download immediately. |

Ok, I went to Youtube and gave it a second listen. You were right, it was better than I thought at the time. My computer speakers are far better than my TV speakers (I'm a musician) and Jay Kay actually sounded as good as he usually would live. Nervous at the start but he warmed up; just annoyed that the band weren't given the green light to play live. |
