Dropped to number 9 on iTunes Sweden today.
Most people in Sweden probably don't know a new album is out. I've seen no promotion, haven't heard a song on the radio. No nothing except for a 3-out-of-5 online review (saying Jamiroquai sounds as they've always sounded) on a site most people don't know about.
Oh, and a small print notice 22/10 in the online edition of Aftonbladet (Swedish newspaper) quoted below.
Quote: |
Translation:
The comeback of the week is really unexpected. I think I speak for all mankind when I say that I've been severely bored with Jamiroquai. But the new single "White Knuckle Ride" is exactly one of those hits kick starting the weekend. Jay Jay, remixed by Monarchy, is first out in the Spotify list of this week, which turned out unusually danceable. Don't ask why. I'm going to ZZ Top this evening. _________________ Old school forever! |

Number 3 on Swedish iTunes album chart today! Wicked.
If this trend continues there's perhaps a chance they will come here for a gig... it's was +10 years ago. _________________ Old school forever! |

Deluxe version at number 8 on iTunes top ten albums in Sweden. I was actually pretty surprised to see it on the list at all. I already knew my countrymen and women have poor taste in music.
Listen... the football world cup is long gone, right? Waka Waka is still at number 4 on iTunes top ten songs. It became a hit after the world cup.
Our number one hit? This will make you laugh... Daniel Adams-Ray - Gubben i Lådan
I'm embarrassed! |
People of sweden, big shame on you... when I told my mates aboute the new album some didnt even know "who" Jamiroquai was, wait its that deeper underground guy right?...gah...
JMQ needs more promo i Sweden, thats for shure. Havnt seen anything on the telly at all. _________________ //Lorryquai |

According to Paul Turner, I'm PROUD to say that Rock Dust is NUMBER ONE IN FRANCE YES!!
"To all the bands fans in France, thank you, merci, for making the album number 1. We hope you enjoyed Le Grand Journal, we did and had fun at the Virgin Radio gig afterwards. Wow that was packed - Paul

As we said in France: "Cocorico" pour Jamiroquai

RDLS is at #5 in UOL's mp3 megastore in Brazil.
UOL is Brazil's biggest internet provider and they've also got an online mp3 store. I believe it's actually Brazil's largest too.
Anyway, JMQ are currently at number 5 there!
I'm thrilled!

Just need to vent.
I've seen NO promotion at all in Sweden. Universal blew it. They haven't even bothered to list Jamiroquai as an artist under J on universalmusic.se. Shame on you Universal Sweden!
The sales of the physical album made it enter at 23 on the Top 60 Album List. It lasted for a week, now the album has vanished from Top 60.
On iTunes Top 10 Albums it entered immediately at 8, dropped to 9, rocketed to 3 and then dropped off the Top 10 list.

Czech official chart:
1st week - 23rd place
2nd week - off from top 50 (there is no place where you can find how many copies were sold)
(my review probably had huge impact on local people ) |

Universal Brasil haven't listed Jamiroquai under J on their page either...
As for the promotion of the new album, it's non existent here. I don't even think they've sent promos to magazines and newspapers. I say this because Rio's biggest newspaper reviews new records every Tuesday and there's been no sign of Jamiroquai on their pages. Brazil's biggest weekly news magazine also has a review section but - guess what - no Jamiroquai there either... |
