Jay and band dressed as vegetables at next gig ?
On a Dutch newswebsite (Telegraaf.nl) Jay had some words about Lady Gaga with a remarkable quote.

here's the Dutch article - below is a English (google translate) translation

Jamiroquai’s Jay Kay vindt Lady Gaga ‘freak’

English

Jamiroquai's Jay Kay finds Lady Gaga a 'freak'

Frontman Jay Kay doesn't like Lady Gaga and sees her as nothing but the game ball from her record.

The comeback of the English funk star, no one noticed. Prima Donna Jay Kay of Jamiroquai is back to the old without the coke and the drink, but with the old sharp text.

"Gaga earned money as a freak show," he told the Daily Star. "We are not, we do the music rather than marketing. Jay Kay (40) not exactly a fan-Gaga is obvious. "Next gig we come dressed as asparagus and tomatoes."

As much as I understand and cherish the power of well-applied sarcasm, the mental image of Jay playing a gig in a bright red tomato suit is way too funny to shoo away from my head. ^_^

Otherwise agreed though. She puts the "gag" in Gaga.

HWhat a great pun! Laughing And it's not sarcasm

I've read this like ages ago, it was totally a joke he made. Although my imagination runs pretty wild, I can't imagine the band wearing salad dresses (another pun!!). Laughing

Funny comments.
I didn't like Gaga when I first heard her.
But she can play, write and sing. I have to give her credit.
She's a real musician. Although some songs are corny.

And she presents herself in a hokey way. It's her Show business.
And Jay has his own Show business style! (c'mon, the headdresses?)

Just saying...

Live and let live is something Lady Gaga should keep in mind... instead of dressing herself in meat Rolling Eyes Anyone who is that disrespectful of the life of a living being does not deserve any respect herself.

Well Jay was hugging a rather large banana during Pori Jazz festival in 2003, so yeah I can see them dressing as the "Fruit-of-the-Loom" guys. Laughing

Cmon give us a break. If you like ok, but that plastic piece of chewing gum rubish a real musician? All she does is manufactured, I bet she rehearsals all her speeches, all her dance moves and has an entire team for her wardrobe. She aint nothing but another sellout for the masses and her music aint nothing but ellectronic noise pollution.
How can you compare her to Miles Davis, Roy Ayers, Donald Byrd ? ... A lot of people can sing and play piano, the diference relies on developing original quality music and that´s something exclusive to a relatively small group of unpopular (sadly) musicians.
Jay can be a little bit harsh some times, but he certainly has a point about this.

So glad my e-mail notifies me of new responses!

Don't get me wrong. Lady Gaga, or Stefani, isn't my favorite. But she is a singer songwriter. She creates her own music, she can play, and can sing. And she was only born in 1986. Shit. She's still so young.

Close your eyes and check out Speechless

I would never compare her to Miles Davis, or Chaka Khan, or Elton John.
(Don't really know Ayers and Byrd) Embarassed

I think she really gets a bad rap because she is recognized for her outrageous costumes and media craze. But when it comes to music, I only listen.

She's really not that far off from Elton, after all! Today he is seen as a classic, but really was quite the freak too in his early years! Laughing
