Webteam backtracking posts on J-Talk?!?
Hello,
I have noticed something weird ever since the return of the Official Site . Yeah, I'm already and have always been aware of the sheer lack of updates, but this is really weird. It seems like somebody is backtracking through the old posts on J-Talk and deleting them with each progressing day. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll try to illustrate a little better. When 'J-Talk' came back online, the last date posted for messages was Aug. 30th, then every day after, posts started to decrease in date, it's already down to Aug. 19th now. I wonder, is the webteam going through the old posts and reading up to see what news the fanbase knows? Oh well, I just thought I would pass this info on, have any of you noticed this too? Thanks for listening and Peace!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000 _________________

Here comes Sherlock Mouse...
I know what's going on at J.Talk... it's very easy to find out... I wonder why nobody has noticed that...
Let me try to explain...
When the official site was down for a few weeks, they weren't working on it, as we were hoping... no, the only reason for that black out was a server crash or something like that. Fact is tht the server was down - not reachable.
Now, the server is running again and the site is back. BUT the server clock is going wrong now. The server clock is in the year 2000, November.
You can easily test it, when you try to answer to an existing topic at J.Talk.
The message you sent will be shown in one of the frames of J.Talk, there you can see the positng date: November 2000!
The topic with your "new" message with old date will go down, because the system thinks this message is older than the actual posts. Do you get it?
And that's why you don't see your message. If you would scroll 100 sites back (or even more) you might see it. It is somewhere. And I guess a lot of people are trying to answer in topics and bring them down. So, that's why all the topics on the first site are dissapearing. But in fact the sytem is mixing the dates. That's all.
This happend at least 3 times in the past. Everytime the site had been down the last years, the server clock went wrong and we had such confusion with the messages.
no comment...

omg, you're absolutely right!
Haha, stoopid of me I didn't notice that. When you wrote something, it say the date of entry is 25. sep 2000!
omg, what a bunch of yahoos!! Have you seen how much they charge for hosting? I think something like 3000 pounds a year. And look what they have to offer
Well, they're not the only to blame. Sony too. Oh, and if Jay would by any chance visit his (HIS) website on those days, he would see the site's down and maybe would sniff around what's happening!
What a attitude |

This is what "new fans" are saying about the forum on J Talk:
First, I have to say that I'm disappointed that I can't watch the full-length videos from this site. Also, I'm disappointed that there isn't more fan discussion going on here.
I guess Jamiroquai has better things to do than to keep this site relatively live.
Oh well, I just discovered the band 2 weeks ago even though they've been "big" since like 1992. Hehehe....nice discovery. I was just in a used music cd store and they were playing Travelling w/o Moving over the speakers, and I was like I have to have that cd. I already have Travelling w/o Moving and A Funk Odyssey. My next purchase will be Synkronized when I find it.
Anywho, I've been researching the band, and finally found this site. And, I wanted to say hello.
Oh, by the way Jay.K...if things don't work out with good ole Vittoria...=) You can always call me! =) Ciao.
My thoughts - Jamiroquai are at base a business and with the crappy organisation on the OFFICIAL website they are going to be losing customers. Maybe the organisation isn't worried about losing a few fans, but know if I personally was in that position I'd want the whole world to be buying my music and listening to what I have to say.
The first point of call for any of the new fans is Jamiroquai.co.uk and at the moment it looks as though Jamiroquai aren't loved that much.
It's a shambles.
Unfortunately, I wasn't on the net early enough to have enjoyed Jamiroquai.com, I just caught the tail end of it...but ****, aint it a bloody shame that the "little man" got cut out by the "big" man again and the fans lost out.
btw. I found my Synkronized cd after about 12 months of searching (and being too tight to buy another), it was in a Dinah Carroll case :S. so it's happy days here in wet and windy England....
Enjoy the rest of the weekend, Jamirotalkers. |

The lack of an apology and or an explanation from www.jamiroquai.co.uk is staggering. It's like WE don't exist, well did they ever ask themselves (Messrs. Webmaster) who the site and especially JTALK is for ???
DDDDuuurrr !!! *** scratching head pondering the answer ***
It's for the fans !!!
Take for instance this site. Don't blush Meike. But she has the decency to communicate personally, and drop info via other sites.
And frenchiroquai.com (BTW, what's happened there ???) and funkin.com there is a human side to those in the fact that they communicate with us.
And they drop info via other sites too.
Even an impersonal mass-email to the registered JTALKers would have been a basic courtesy to inform us of the plug being pulled or whatever it is that has happened. Or was it as much of a shock to them as it was to us ???
The indifference is a vile complacency, and I know I am not the only one who is insulted by it and sick of it.
In respect of the hierachy of Jamiroquai fans, I will inform some and remind others that I am a relative newbie of the on-line fans, I have less that a year under my Buffalo Man belt !!! (BTW, That was an inspiring idea for JSHOP !!!) So my indignation is mere peanuts in comparison.
There were some precious threads on JTALK, I hope they don't wipe them away !!! The return of the jamily and happiness were institutions.
