My opinion: there is no difference if you slaughter whales, kangaroos, pigs, cows, rabbits, sheep, cats, dogs or fishes,.... every single creature suffers and is killed in the end.

You can decide that it is legit to kill for a meal, then it doesn't really matter which animal you kill.

Or you can decide that animals have a right to live, then you go veggie and stop supporting this industry/tradition/habit.
For me it doesn't make sense to condemn whale-slaughtering on the one side and eat a steak on the other side.

And yes, I am a veggie.

jay talks about meat, not whale meat, and anyway he is not vegetarian, he only says that would help more not to eat meat than drive another car (and he wouldn't do anyway)

btw, greenpeace is a bunch of meditic driven ignorant people, doing useless and shalow things. driven, if not even created, by the same people who is ruining the world...

and btw, other living things have the same right of living than animals. if suffering is the limit to put for eating/not eating an animal it is easy to do a list of animals you could eat wich will suffer same as any plant or ameba.
animals used as pets are slaves, and they for sure have the right of being free, even the "domesticated" ones.

Well, it actually does make sense to condemn whale-slaughtering on the one side and eat steak on the other.. Meat like steaks and such are cultivated, whales are endangered species, so actually there is a big difference between the two.
Although I do see your point 'cause it is both very wrong if you think about it rationally. And nah, I am not a veggie, as you probably already figured out Rolling Eyes

That's why I said: FOR ME, it makes no sense. It's MY feeling because I have a DEEP respect for LIFE, may it be an animal a plant or a human. I am still eating plants, because I haven't figured out how to live without nutrition. ( Wink ) Only for me (!!) all animals have a right to live and so it doesn't make any difference if killing one species is cutivated or not.
I mean, there was (is) a time when it was "cultivated" to have slaves. Not everything that is cultivated has to be ethically alright, in my eyes.

Just my opinion. I know other have other values.

right. that's a fact.
about being veggie or nor and all the other dicussion meike is right pointing out that it's each one opinion and decision, and i respect that: the decision.
just that the REASONS are just personal and can't be based in rational/scientific facts, cause nature is just amoral, and as i said the limit you put for eating or not eating something doesn't have a reason in that context (nature is a continious even if we need to clasiffy and put everything in an order (and most times in a particular climbing scale of value!)
although we got the opportunity of choosing in some aspects nature have evolved in a particular way. theres no evolution without extintion, and theres no life without death. the respect for life should understand the respect for death cause thats the way nature goes.
respect for nature or life needs a deeper understanding of what nature and life is.
our particular evolution have become in a slight different way from other species due to a greater cultural develop, on wich in (at least) last 40000 years have become our principal mechanism of evolution and way of life. together with this, the moral have appeard in our lives, same as religion or technology and this multiplys the options of acts we can make (religion mostly blocks them but anyway) but this does not have nothing to do with what is "naturally" right or wrong. (cause as said theres a little stuff in nature wich is naturally right r wrong, appart from some actions wich endanger the own specie for reproduction in short or long scale with direct or indirect destruction of the own or another specie of the ecosistem)
with all this...if the goal is to get nutrition without killing nothing, sadly there is a way, and getting all the nutrition by lab made chemical stuff. i'm sure we humans can get 99% of the nutrition we need (if not 100%) only getting the nutrition this way
Confused

The point I was making with saying whales are endangered is just to to give an indication of how '' extra-wrong '' (if this is possible at all) hunting whales is. Kinda ironic to have a comment on that from a Japanese.... And yes they áre endangered, because them hunters just shoot any whale-like thing they encounter.. You really think they wonder if they're dealing with a blue whale or a minke when they see one?

And don't get me wrong, I know the veggie thang is purely personal, and I respect it very much, for I can't do it hehe

Happy dayz !
