i really don´t like her. Confused
i swear... i tried! but i hate her voice, i hate her style, i hate her interviews, i hate everything about her! Laughing to me, music is just simple, you don´t need to be strange or make "non-sense video clips" to be an artist.

but, i respect who likes her! it is just my opinion. Razz

i totally agree with you except the part of her voice. a few months ago i saw on youtube her live acoustic version of poker face and there we can see the her voice is actually powerful and not that bad. i really think that she's wasting her voice on her songs. but she could be much better (in my opinion) if she took advantage of her voice and piano skills... oh! and a little less extravagance and freakness would be okay too Rolling Eyes

here' the video i saw:

Julia -at least you tried! Laughing She is either loved or hated.
There are definitely artists that urk me. I used to hate Madonna while everyone loved her.

Rita -Wow -great example of how she is different and flexible! Laughing

I only defend her because she deserves some respect and has a lot of potential.
Question Maybe she deserves the "urk"ing award of 2010!

I love Gaga. I don't get why many people dislike her. She has a great voice.
They call her freak, strange, no-talent, attention getting, weird chick. To me that what makes a great artist, being different and not a follower. She influenced by two other artist I loved growing up Madonna and Grace Jones. Be honest folks, Gaga is like a car accident , you keep looking at her no matter how good or horrible she is. As for Jay, in my HUMBLE opinion, needs to chill out and get out of his grumpy old man syndrome complaining about anything remotely threating his career. I love him dearly but damn. My first thought of him in 93' was "Ummm what the hell is that on his head!"

Chill ol'man chiiilll Laughing

Yeah, I know, she can sing and play piano. Just like my neighbour. Just like tonelades of people. And her voice? Just another american babe poppy voice. Tonelades of those out there also. Especially in American Idols all across the globe.
Her singing is manufactured by voice trainers. Her choreography is manufactured by choreographers. Her speeches are manufactured by people telling her what to say. Her dressing style is manufactured by her team of stylists. Her controversy is manufactured by people making money from her. And BAM there it is. The super artist of the new decade. Aint nothing but another manufactured product.

And her music? If you like, I can deal with that, but in terms of quality, it is unarguable - it´s trash. No soul. No message. No nice arrangements. 5 minutes in Protools and that´s it. Pure electronic trash.

Real artists are genuin. Nobody told Jay how to sing, how to dress or how to move. Nobody told Jay how to arrange Too young to die or Space Cowboy. And honestly, comparing Jamiroquai music with that stuff?

I stand with Jay with this one. Music industry is getting really horrible and someone has to say something.

Not really criticizing your comments for Gaga, take her or leave her. You seem to know way more about her than I! I only defend her because I think she's more genuine than many give her credit. Frankly, I also liked her in the Rolling Stone's interview.

But I felt a bit of American-bashing.

America has produced a lot of good music. And America produces a lot of different artists. Some great, some not so great. But really, so much music.

And if you really get down to it, America seems to have been groundbreaking in many genres of music. No we didn't create classical music, but I believe we did invent Jazz & Blues(early 1900's), and maybe even Rock n' Roll(50's) (Chuck Berry & Bill Haley & the Comets) & Soul (50's) Motown (60's), (James Jamerson from the Funk Brothers & Motown) made the funky bass popular leading to the Funk vibe. And I think the genre Rap (New York City)(70's) which has melted into the DJing groove of Hip-Hop(90'), is now starting to have influence in some European music.

Heck, you'd think Jamiroquai came from America seeing their influences. Oh yeah, and their name comes from America's Iroquois tribe! As for Jay, I think he simply made a comment and was not Gaga-bashing. How could he with his history of costumes and electronic music! Laughing

I like the continuous way you pronouce "America", but America is an entire continent. You live in the United States of America wich is a mere part of it.

But there is a problem... They were almost completely exterminated by the "americans", you only have a handful of them out there. Jay clings in their culture, their shamanistic views and style, their philosophy has nothing to do with the modern culture of united states, wich include anything from the last 100 years or so.

By the way, I find Lady Gaga more or less genuine but sucks for me. Maybe i'd change my mind if i spot her undressed lying in my bed, perhaps i may have a bad surprise as well... Rolling Eyes

Nooo don´t get me wrong Honeybee, I wasn´t bashing America ! .. Most music I listen to comes from America ! .. And I really don´t know her but the annoying musics and videoclips spreaded everywhere is enough for me to draw that kind of conclusions. It just pisses me off the whole world seems to be hysteric about some plastic idol while there are so many amazing artists out there unrecognized.

Oh, sorry. (I was pmsing)

Vintage -Oh, I was just being patriotic. I don't disagree with your comments.

Iran -Nice to see you again! Love the comments. Yeah, America is more than one country. I guess I was speaking too colloquially, America meaning U.S.

Actually, I believe many Americans (U.S. citizens included) have some Native Indian heritage, me included). Nowhere exists a constant culture. There is always change.

Iran (do you have a first name?) I'll leave your last comment alone! Laughing

i know what you mean. she's just the product of a lot of choreographers who teach her and make her choreographies, a lot of song writers and producers and machines who help her with her voice and arrangements, and her songs don't even come from the inside, don't have a soul... and finally, her extravagant attitude and meat dresses
