Anyone got any idea what that first line means?
Now she's stinging in the rain 'cos she's got so much to give
What is "stinging in the rain", and why would being awesome cause someone to do this? _________________

I believe it is a cool way of describing the woman standing in the rain. In my mind, 'stinging' adds a degree of sharpness to the line...this lady is bad by all means.
Even if this isn't the case, I think it is a great intro the rest of the story.
I'm also interested to know if someone has another take. |

I think you must be right.
Urban Dictionary says of Stingin':
Quote: |
Banter used when something someone does or something you see catches your eye and blows you away. |
The phrase "Stinging in the rain" also pops up loads if you google it, so I guess it's just a phrase for "mind blowing" and the like that I'm unfamiliar with...
I think it probably has nothing to do with actual rain either. So you could translate that opening line as: She's kicking-ass even when conditions are shit, because she's so awesome. Something like that anyway... haha. Cheers. _________________

Sting: Slang. To cheat or overcharge.
I think this definition gives a better idea of what it really means in the context of the song. _________________ Call me up, turn me on, tune me in... |

"Now she's standing in the ring cos she's got so much to give"
hahahha in fact when I sing it, I say that xD

About the:
"Now she's stinging in the rain the rain,
'cos she's got so much to give [...]"
I find "to sting" can mean, in slang, to have a bad time or support a bad situation (in the song 'cause it's raining); and the second verse says why she's here, so it makes me to believe that she is really a prostitute. If not, it hasn't a real sense to stay outdoors in the rain for nothing.
Also, the "work me" (slang) means recieve some sexual practise from a stranger (I said "recieve" 'cause implies a passive attitude from the one who's being "worked"). So put after the "on your knees" and you got the complete scenario. _________________

I especially like this song when Jay does not start to sing immediately, so you can hear the sweet, loungy sounds of the keyboards at the beginning of the sound.
Like at the Take40 party in Sidney or at the Jazz Cafe (when Jay forgot the lyrics).
Anyone else who noticed / appreciates this? |

I really hope this song became a single, even if the video has nothing to do about the meaning of the song _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time

Haha The video would be very rude indeed. This is such a good song though.Would be a shame if it does not get released _________________ http://twitter.com/jamesfeligha |
