Back in Time with Previous Releases! (Updated!)
Hello Jamirotalkers,
This topic is to give the new fans in the site a look at the releases of the 2 previous Jamiroquai albums:
A FUNK ODYSSEY (2001)
For example, 'A Funk Odyssey' was released on September 2001 (being 'Little L' the single on August). But:
It was going to be entitled '2001: A Funk Odyssey' and the first release known was on May. 'Little L' was going to be released on April. (Almost 7 months later of the original release we already new a hint of the album title).
(April 2001 -5 months before the release of 'A Funk Odyssey'-) we already knew that they were performing on the Knebworth dance festival on August 2001; and we heard Little L.
By June 16th we knew the titles of 'Feel So Good', 'You Give Me Something', 'Picture of my Life' and 'Corner of the Earth'.
By July 27th we knew the complete tracklisting (+ the titles of 'So Good To Feel Real' and 'Do It Like We Used To Do', which wasn't included on the album).
SYNKRONIZED (1999)
We had an idea of the title of 'Synkronized' almost 3 years before of the release.
(1/1/97) Rumours said that the fourth album was going to be named as 'Symphonised' (alright, not the original name, but it was pretty close).
And almost 4 months before we knew that the 1st single was going to be 'Canned Heat' and we also knew (by March) other titles of songs, including 'Supersonic' and 'King for a Day' that, coincidentaly, were the next 2 singles.
By April 18th we had the complete tracklisting and we knew some hints about the video for 'Canned Heat'.
(01/5/99) We already saw the covers of both single and album.
Jay said that 'Synkronized' was supposed to be released on October 1998.
(NOTE for both releases: months before we also knew who were remixing the singles and info about 'Wolf In Sheep's Clothing' and 'Getinfunky' being part of 'Canned Heat' single for Synkronized; and most of the info was suministrated by the Official Jamiroquai Website).
DYNAMITE (2005)
Finally, an official confirmation of both album and single titles in March 2005! But 'Dynamite' already appeared as a rumor title several months ago, with 'working title', 'provisional', 'TBC' and 'TBA'. The single is called 'Feels Just Like It Should' and it was revealed after a 4-songs performance of the band in LA for Sony-BMG.
Release is scheduled for May (different dates for Japan -11th-, Europe -16th- and US -24th-) and Summer festival concerts were announced, although without exact dates.
Still, the delays are not well explained, it could be they recorded in LA as well, or that they used different bassists for the album. We are still waiting to see the album and single covers, and the new design of the official site.
Also, a pay-download of the single will be available at the site, they did something like that after the release of AFO with the 'An Online Odyssey', with b-side track 'Snooze You Lose' and a White Nights remix for 'Black Capricorn Day'. We are still wondering if the download will include a rare track as well.
Hope that helped to know what happened a few years ago.
(Thanks to David Rowe at the funkin' site for the info).

Yeah, it's strange to believe The (infamous) Official Site was once pretty cool! The Funk Oddessy site sucks, I always thought that - Too flashy and too much room for techinical problems.
The Album is RECORDED. The Album is FINISHED. Jay has absolutely NOTHING to do right now but get this album out! What is taking it so long, why have we heard nothing, where is Jay and when is the uttery pathetic Official Site gonna kickstart into gear and give us what we all deserve, which would be some NEEEEEEEEW NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWS!!
This isn't gonna turn into a 'Chinese Democracy' is is? _________________

Hehe...
It was everything confusing already, LLCoolJR!
Mmm... anyway, I still think is kind of strange that nothing appeared... not even a rumour of a video...

3 months away...
Hello Jamirotalkers,
March and April seems to be the final months for the release of the loong awaited 6th Jamiroquai album.
Can you believe almost 4 years have gone since the release of AFO? I remember when I bought it... and it doesn't seem so much time...
But, the band has been giving concerts until 2003, that is something we must thank for, some of them were very good and sometimes (well.. almost everytime) I thought the live versions were even better than the album ones.
Ohhh I want to believe this album comes with wonderful tunes.. please lord oh please!

it's kinda hard to believe that matt's been with the band for 2.5 years and we still haven't heard him on record. i'm sure the band is getting restless at this point and by the time they get out on tour they'll have a whole lot to show off. _________________ i left my funk in san francisco
