I agree with Jay, it should be banned or mandatory that the nasty individual be made to go to the bathroom to relieve themselves. 
An airplane is to small a space to have to endure the smell of someone's bodily waste back up. I have had my own horror story that follows the same scenario as Jay's so I can truly sympathize ...it is disgusting.

Long plane journeys are terrible! I didn't have to deal with flatulence, but I manage to survive to strong feet smell (and let me say, I don't know what is worse...)
