Well I heard it more or less the same way some people heard "Not The Funk" a few years ago...
It's far better than "Blue Skies", smooth funky track... But it was weeks ago, so I don't remember so much about this one... _________________ Max. |

Hello,
WHAT THE FUCK ? Please forgive my colorful use of naughty language there, but do I have a parallel creepy story to tell pertaining to this :
OK, I'll paint the picture, it was about maybe 8-10 years ago, inbetween the period of the AFO/Dynamite eras of Jamiroquai's album releases. I was on I believe the old Frenchiroquai fansite's chatroom (an old but amazing fansite that ceased to exist starting in the 00's), chatting away about Jamiroquai speculation and so forth when some weird dude/regular fan was going on and on about having a new 'Jamiroquai single promo' for a song called 'smile'. As usual, me and the other chatters took this claim with a grain of salt and proceeded in ignoring him. Now flash forward to NOW and upon reading this news on the Official Site, I think reluctantly to myself and question, "Shit, was this dude for REAL or am I COMPLETELY mistaken?!?"
Well, there is an truncated account of what transpired a LONG time ago concerning this news about 'Smile'. Could this be that single OR just a coincidence of a fan blowing rumor smoke up my and others asses? In any case, this has peaked my interest, maybe, just maybe they will give us the other stray songs leftover from the RDLS sessions as free downloads over the coming summer months? If that's the case, it's win-win for the jamily....roll on next week!
Sincerely,
JamiroFan2000
P.S. If anyone wants to chat with me about this, I'll be in 'JamiroChat' here on JamiroTalk....see you there ! _________________

Ok, this is kinda creepy! haha
But as I said before in Funkin.com and chatting with Brent, I really don't believe it is something from the pre-AFO era! I really believe its very hard to see $$$ony releasing stuff for free!
But who knows, maybe I'm wrong (and I'd like to)! That would be amazing to have something new from the 'golden' Jamiroquai era! But I remember Jay saying they recorded a lot of tracks in the RDLS sessions, so, I think this song comes from that era!
Maybe Brent is right and it's something from Symphonized! If he was told about an unreleased song in the AFO era, the most probable is its coming from the "Synkronized" era! Let's see what happens! _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Yeah, the predictable speculation is sure to dominant the rest of the week's convo here on Talk...so get ready Jamily....hehe ! But in regards to what specific era this unreleased song is from, bearing in mind if that dude from my story was right OR not right, the 'performed live' version of this song is most definitely from the RDLS sessions. But when your speaking about the 'composition era' of this song, it COULD very well be an old song that was written pre-AFO and just brought back OR I could be completely wrong and it's indeed a new song composed during the 5-6 years hiatus between 'Dynamite'/'RDLS'. Time will tell hopefully what is right and what is wrong....at least I hope it will! Cheers!
Sincerely,

Hello again,
Here's some more supplemental to this developing story, mostly from Facebook :
- Fellow fan Steve Adams mentioned that he thought he remembered seeing 'Smile' listed on a whiteboard on one of the teaser videos for RDLS, namely this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2tpWsXdu7E
At the 1:11-1:13 point of this teaser video, you can see the camera run down a partial list of RDLS songs that they were working on, the ONLY unheard RDLS songs that you can pretty much make out are:
...."Super Highway", "It's Been Workin" & "All Mixed Up In You"
There is no mention of "Smile", nor any other part of this video where you get a glance at the list of songs again, though you do get a few seconds of seeing JK's handwritten lyrics to some of the songs in this video. Well, the plot thickens slightly and I will post again when either more interesting conversation yields new info and anything interesting pertaining to "Smile". Cheers!
Sincerely,

yeah and that weird titling of 'She's A Fast Persuader' be listed on the whiteboard in the teaser as 'Fast Persuader (crazy girls) + Will Fry' . As a quick update, I have posted on the walls of Jamiroquai's & Derrick's FB walls about this, so hopefully some correction or new information will be given soon! Cheers!
Sincerely,

Brent, "Super Highway" is not exactly unheard, on the vid you sent we get a bit of the chorus I believe...a good one that unluckily it's been benched.
I like this release, even if it cost say a buck or two, it's interesting. Reminds me that I haven't bought the RDLS cd...
Hope it's a decent track, if it is from another era closer to 2000 than 2010...then this is serious business, if not, this might accumulate "virtual" dust in my HD... |
