Very nice work Meike
I take it nobody wants to be involved in a jamily smiling collage?
I was also wondering why a new single is being released when there are perfectly good singles such as AGITH & HF left on the album? _________________

I definitely bump Brother Russ's sentiments there, amazing work sister Meike...though it looks like brother Diego continues to 'kill the competition' with his genius submissions...hehe . I have been thinking, I don't remember when Jamiroquai had set up a soundcloud account, does anyone else? I would think with how 'widespread' this download is going to be available (I.E. Facebook, Official Site, MySpace, Soundcloud) that this could very well be the start of a series of 'free downloads' of leftover RDLS material. I mean, they still haven't released the new album in the states, with exception to the digital availability, so I think this is a way of giving back to the fans, be it either a thank you for a great recent RDLS world tour OR just a gesture. ROLL ON MONDAY!!! Cheers!
Sincerely,

Yes! Definitely Diego's white cover with the dots and lines, and the buffalo man with the hat is the most amazing cover i've seen of all the submissions!
I really believe that's the one winning this contest! i really love it! _________________ This is FunkEducation, supporting the 1992-1998 Jamiroquai!!

Thanks p, for letting me know! I corrected it...
This is what happens when you do 5 things at the same time. Multitasking is not always successful... even when you are female...hehe!
ok, now it should read correctly:

Hello again,
We're only hours away from the new jami unreleased single "Smile", this begs one obvious question :
- Will the free download start at midnight OR midday Monday?
I would think it would be best for them to release it at the same time via all their portals.... totally hyped now..ROLL ON MONDAY ! Cheers!
Sincerely,

Diego made some sweet designs. My fave is this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dyegoh/5791006624/lightbox/
Very good job. Perhaps not the 'smiliest' artwork to be honest. One would almost expect a title like 'Torn But Not Broken' rather than 'Smile'. But it's so extremely well executed. Top notch Diego!
I have sent in one design so far. If I can manage I will make another one. Tomorrow is the deadline so we'll see.
Good luck everyone! _________________ Old school forever! |

Woah, thanks for the comments
Yeah, well, I know it isn't the happiest cover ever, but I realized that, with the only exception of maybe Canned Heat, there's no relation between the single cover and the song. Seven Days In Sunny June is a happy summery song, and the covers are great, with no relation whatsoever.
I displayed a message under it, that the color scheme can be changed.
And also, I wanted to stay away from the obvious use of a 'smile'. To be honest, I was aiming for a cool cover, to get back to the roots of the buffalo man in different situations like in the old days.
We'll see who wins! The best of lucks to everyone who submitted!
PS: The #3 one has a picture of my vinyl collection, if you look closely you'll read some of the artists (Jamiroquai, Bobby Womack, Alan Parsons, Stevie Wonder) =P |

Like yours Meike - what a creative thought!
I personally didn't like the idea of a curvy smile at all on a cover; just doesn't fit if you ask me, but you made the exception
But, I do prefer most the ones Dye made; so cool they are. Prefer no. 2 with the feather; just awesome!
But remember, it is not obligatory to put your design on the Flickr page, so it could well be that a design is picked which we haven't seen before... just saying |

Thank you.
According to the site:
To submit your artwork you need to do two things:
1. Submit the artwork to Flickr and add it to this group
2. Fill out this simple form so we can contact you.
So I guess is kinda obligatory. |
