Meike,I do remember Rob & Derrick being contacted during the album release which slipped my mind. Of course it's not fair to vent our frustrations to them but we don't have any other link to Jay.Some of us have tried to bring up suggestions when they asked for input not too long ago but they haven't taken it on board.
maybe the crowds in eastern Europe can start chanting for it at these upcoming shows

It could be indeed that somehow the one choosen hasn't replied back to them yet (but find it a bit unlikely though)
What I think is they did contact the winner, but asked him/her to keep silent untill the release in the coming days....otherwise it's not fun!
It should be the song and artwork together guys...
I can imagine bits and bobs need to be arranged between the winner and jamiroquai...we will get it soon, I'm sure! |

Ok Brent, it went out of all our expectation!! :S
I think its a bit sad since they can't manage a date! So many times they have said "X" day, and it ends being a week, a year later!
Next time they should say: "We are opening a contest to give the new single _____ a cover, it will be released as soon as we choose one", but giving an "exact" date is pathetic...

I just can't see how they would have to wait for the winner to confirm they have won maybe when it says in the terms & conditions they would be using his/her artwork for the single!!
also as i said - why would they have entered in the first place if they didn't want to win:!:
so it's not biding time - they just can't upload it.

If I was responsible for Jamiroquai.com and the Facebook profile (which I'm obviously not, because if I were you'd been listening to 'Smile' since Monday) I would be very very careful when working out the licensing details with the winner.
I think they must make sure that their choice of design won't come back and bite them in their behinds... ie lawsuit or whatever.
A very long time ago I made mods for a certain music application which involved new graphics/animations as well as samples. When some of these became 'official' (published by the software creators) I had to sign papers confirming that everything was my own original work.
I reckon something similar is being done as we speak. The creator of the winning design must take full responsibility for the authenticity of the design. Far too many submissions had source material taken from a Google search. I guess the management wants to make sure they can't be held responsible (financially or otherwise) in case someone contacts them saying 'Hey, that smiling girl on that cover is my wife! And I took the photo.'.

A pity that the logo is not the right one... (the r+o) ... but then again, when you look at that ad-banner for the Birmingham gig... even Jamiroquai doesn't even use their logo right.
But I can't complain - I had a spelling mistake myself in the logo first.

by the way, totally pathetic the fact the JAMIROQUAI word was just written in a jamiroquai font and its not actually the logo, well, they know what they do

Yeah Ed, I said it before! But at jamiroquai.com they have that "wrong" logo as well... .... no further comment.
