Hhmmm. "Lifeline" like STP's "Interstate Love Song" -actually it does a bit!
I have previously posted how it has such a Motown feel- can't place the tune.
But maybe it was STP I was thinking! I think ILS has a more rock vibe. Vocals completely different.
I'm wondering when "Never gonna be another" is gonna hit me.
And yes, musicians used to just pump out albums yearly. Maybe it was in their contract.
But I think a musician is like an artist, and should put an album out when it is completed. |

Doesn't it? I'm telling you - you can sing STP's ILS over it and it matches perfectly. At least for the verses. The chorus of "Lifeline" is way more soulful/Motown-ish. But the tempo, the lyrics, the phrasing... lots of similarities.

Again, this song 'reminds' me of another one.... It reminds me of Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" (which I LOVE ), with a bit of Pink Floyd & Radiohead for good measure. I love the guitars & keyboards on this one. (And of course the vocals - always.) It's so 'different' for them, but it 'works.' Gorgeous, just gorgeous. It's very melancholy & echoes recent personal life experiences and associated emotions, so I find it especially poignant and moving. _________________ ~~~"To perchance upon this circumstance is something of a miracle so spiritual, it's verging on the physical."~~~ |

Well; RDLS is a good, beautiful; excellent album, born from a lot of work. It's High Quality music, and in 2011 it's rather a miracle, compared to what industry products nowadays.
BUT, with a little hindsight, I feel like a lack of fun, of "coolness", of "hig times" in it, like if the last albums had something special this one doesn't have, don't forget that other albums were created/produced under drugs influence for big part.
This is maybe why, unlike the other albums that I keep on playing by turns everyday; I didn't played it anymore after it spinned one month non stop when it was released a few months ago, then, suddently, after the discovery; nothing. _________________ Smile ~ |

I noticed the other day that the songs that start with an H are my favourites:
* Hurtin'
* Hey Floyd
* Hang it Over
Followed by:
* All Good in the Hood
* That's not the Funk I want
* Angeline
* Rock Dust Light Star
* She's a Fast Persuader
* Smoke and Mirrors
Unless my music is on shuffle I don't listen to:
* White Knuckle Ride
* Two Completely Different Things
* Goodbye to my Dancer
* Lifeline
I ALWAYS skip Blue Skies. It's really just not for me.
So basically not much has changed for me since the release. _________________ *Meow* |

9 months later....
i still enjoy listening to this album (most of the tracks on the daily basis)
also i have notice how most of the tracks are simply timeless,
for example: SAFP, its funky but i cant categorized it to one specific genre, its like it came from another planet
some tracks has a vintage-vibe to it,
for example: angeline reminds me of early 80s new wave music
and others are like experimental,
for example: hurtin (different use of vocals), i still think its a sexy track |
