Introduction
This document is designed to clarify various responsibilities of community members here at www.jamirotalk.net. Please read it and become familiar with it, it's terms are retroactive and agreed by admin and moderators.
While these rules might seem strict, they are necessary in order to make your visit to Jamirotalk.net as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. We'd like to promote a clean, healthy and respectful environment where members are not afraid to ask questions or engage in friendly discussions.
Where to post your new topic:
1. Please ensure that your new topics are in the correct forum by reading the forum description. Do not be offended if a moderator decides that your thread is more suitable to another forum and moves it there. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning.
The general content of posts:
1. Do not post topics or replies containing:
* Subjects which have already been discussed numerous times. Check past topics to be sure that the topic you are about to start hasn't already been discussed.
Do this with a simple forum search using the relevant keywords. If your topic has already been posted and you want to add to the discussion, do so under the existing topic. Topics discussing the same subject will be locked on sight;
* Flames directed towards other users. Should a user antagonize, slander or intimidate you, DO NOT retaliate. Bring this to a moderator's attention by sending them a PM (Private Message) (such a topic will be locked on sight, possibly with a temporary ban.) Any degratory comments based on age, gender, race, ethnicity or nationality will be met with a swift ban;
* Anything not relating to the original subject of the topic (although Offtopic and Jamily forums are rather flexible). Do not simply post a message on how you find a topic or user irrelevant, boring, childish or stupid.
* Images linked from other sites without their permission (simply giving a URL is much more polite);
2. Members should remember this board is aimed at a general audience. Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning.
3. Do not promote your own site, unless:
* It's to show off something cool you've done related to Jamiroquai
* It's a personal site;
* It's to help somebody find something they're looking for.
4. Do not post spam.
* Spam includes advertisments, content deemed inappropriate or illegal, and flooding of the boards;
* Spammers will receive a swift kick in the ass, as well as a lengthy ban.
5. Do not 'bump' threads back to the top to elicit a response.
When writing your post:
1. If you have something to say, please do so; however be sure to mention your sources. If you are providing an opinion, please MENTION THIS in your post. We would like to avoid arguments based on rumors or misinformation.
2. Please avoid needless, incessant usage of the following where it's not necessary. This includes both in the message subject and message body:
-Emoticons
-Line breaks;
-CAPITAL letters
-Nested quotes;
-Giant fonts with ugly colours;
-Swearing or derogatory terms.
3. Please use the most relevant and descriptive subject for your topics. The subject of your thread should be detailed, but not extremely long. Examples of bad topic subjects include, but are not limited to:
-"READ THIS"
-"Jamiroquai"
-"This is cool"
-"Jay Kay"
-"Breaking news!!"
-"Please help!"
-"Why did this happen?"
Examples of good titles include:
-"Searching for Syncronized Lyrics"
-"Rare pics of Jay Kay found"
Basically, members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing".
4. Please spend some time to make your posts interesting and easy to understand. Messages of agreement such as "me too" or "I agree with X" have been found to waste time and are asked to be avoided. A message consisting of only one or two words (or emoticons) is probably not worth posting.
5. As this is an international forum, messages should be written in English, so they can be understood by everyone. However, other languages can be used in:
-private messages
-special topics with an appropriate title. E.g. "Spanish-speaking fan-meeting"
-as little comments - (or "insider jokes"). E.g. an occasional "Hello" in French or any other language.
Signatures
1. Signatures may contain up to five lines (one line being that displayed on a browser opened to 800px width) of text (of small or normal size) and/or one image, valid combinations include:
-a single image of no more than 100px high, 500px wide and 20KB in size. Signatures containing an image this large may also include one line of small size text.
-Signatures containing an image of 30px high may include up to three lines of small size text or two lines of normal size text.
-Images of 15px height or less may allow up to three lines of normal size text or four lines of small size text.
2. Animated images are not allowed.
3. Text sizes should be between 9 and 12 (small and normal). Text in signatures is subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, warez, emoticons, and so forth.
4. Links in signatures are permitted to a maximum of four unique pages or sites. Links are included in signature size limits.
5. Users abusing these rules will be warned.
Avatars
1. User defined avatars are to be no larger than 80 pixels square,
2. Must not contain animation
3. May not exceed 8KB.
4. Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, and so forth.
5. Users abusing these rules will be warned and/or may lose their avatar privileges.
Your Responcibilities as a Member
1. Do not argue with the Jamirotalk.net Team about the above commandments.
2. Enjoy the Jamirotalk.net Community Forums!
* If you have any problems, just make a post in the appropriate forum, and somebody will be glad to help you.
* The moderators are here to make everyone's visit more enjoyable, so if you experience any problems with abusive users, please tell a moderator.
3. Members are asked to not act as "back seat moderators". If members note an issue which contravenes something in this policy document they are welcome to bring it to the attention of a member of the Moderator Team. Only do this if a moderator team member has not replied within 6 hours. Members who consistenly "act" as moderators may be warned.
4. Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc.
5. Members should respect the bandwidth of other users and sites. The use of inline ([IMG][/IMG]) image tags pointing to data stored on third party systems should be chosen very carefully.
6. The moderating team reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Team Members and not users.
7. The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revokation of private messaging.

Please read the rules above and check, if your avatar and signature sizes are respecting the rules and make some corrections, if needed.
Here comes a summary or a more basic version of the detailed guidelines, we have created - it's maybe easier to memorize. 
Jamirotalk.net - The Basic Rules
 Post in the correct forum.
Check if your post already been discussed.
No hostile language or criticizing of others.
Stay on topic.
No adverts of any kind. This includes web pages. No Spamming.
Do not post copyright protected material.
Don't overuse emoticons, CAPITAL letters etc.
Make your post worthwhile, enjoyable and easy to read.
Use relevant and describing topics.
Non-moderators don't attempt to moderate
Respect bandwidth of this and other sites.
