Any "news" in this? If they're yet to start working on the new album knowing how much time it takes them to get the final material out I wouldn't expect anything earlier than 2014. Just my 2 cents...
Another aspect - if I recall it well they signed with Mercury for 1 album. Seeing the commercial "success" of RDLS I wouldn't expect them to go for a contract extension so a label should also be found.

I've read several times that they already had a lot of unused material from the RDLS-production wich could be used for the next album. |

Yeah like Super Highway and Smile but I'd doubt that they could fill an entire album with the outtakes (otherwise they would have been put on RDLS) so think apart from 2-3 tracks and some unused ideas it will be a brand new album. |

Jay always said that he likes to keep working with new material, so maybe a couple of tracks from the previous session could be included (like Two Completely Different Things from the Dynamite era, if I recall correctly), but I'm sure most of it will consist of new material.
Fingers crossed for a late 2013 release. |

I think they wrote about 40 songs, but only like 18 were ready to be released. Most of it was just unfinished, raw material. |

derrick told me that the other song that were left from rdls were going to be part of the new album .
there is also a song called "your window is a crazy teelvision" , remember ?

If I correctly recollect that they said they had 30-40 songs written/recorded, about 13 of which made the cut for RDLS release. So they relatively could record the new album rather quickly unless they plan to compose further new material for either 'bonus tracks'/'next lp material'. But here's something to consider, what will the title the next LP? I was thinking 'Star Light Dust Rock', sort of a 'companion album' to RDLS, that is, the stray material by itself in a double album format. Anyway, I'm sure it will all end up being grand as expected, as for a skeptical release date, I'm thinking maybe June 2013. Cheers!

you boys keep busy with the info (+ Julia).
well having 7-8 songs ready could make it a quick finish.
still not sure if they'd make it for June, but hoping!
Really want 'Super Highway' and 'Smile' on it.
But hope they write some brand new stuff too.
I think it'll be a completely new album from RDLS. |

I was expecting or hoping they would do some special concerts this year to mark their 20 year existence, but maybe this will be it then! |
