Slowness
Guys, and Gals
I'm really worried about the slowness of the forums and the band itself, sort of gets me to nerves to not see anything new over the last weeks besides a sparsely publicized gig and nothing else.
Does anyone know what's going on?

It has always been like this. When the band is not touring much and there's not any new studio material to discuss, this community seems to be a little bit dead, but as soon as there's something new we're all back |

This article mentions they might play "newer, unreleased material" at this weekend's festival in South Africa, but Jay never actually says that in the interview, so I kind of doubt it... _________________

Hmm, reading the article it looks like he's saying no. |

haha! I was just coming here to post the article!

I read it as saying they will perform already released music in a new arrangement, since they are not just finishing a new record. But you never know! Maybe they'd play "Smile"!

Will you include any “never heard before” songs in your performances?
I don't know, you know. If I’m fresh off finishing or putting out a new record then I would include some and of course there will be something from the the last album. Like the hat I don't like to make final setlist decision till just before the show. There will definitely be never before heard arrangements of songs. I like to give the crowd stuff they know but in a fresh way. |
I like the comment "bite-sized chunks".
They're all more settled today.
And it's easier to make small commitments as opposed to a 30-country tour.
That's why the lag, or Slowness I think. |

They have been touring since 2010, of course they are not as active. Next thing we know, they will probably start announcing the new album (which they did in the official page, early this year).
Relax, this is what happens in between albums and tours. |

Alright, it's just that uneasy feeling you know, they`ve announced there would be an album on the way towards the end of this year but who knows? _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper... |

After RDLS, I already got disappointed. It wasn't a bad album just it wasn't as good as people were hyping it up to be. There were only truly two tracks I liked. So to be honest, I'm not getting my hopes too high.
I could be, and I'm really hoping that I'm wrong and I could eat my words but for right now I know Jay is a good musician and he and Derek can take all the time they need. _________________

@Smellbob -I think we all have a starting point, and expectations of the next vary.
I see each album by a favorite artist as a bonus. If you already love an artist's previous stuff, it's kinda hard to trump that. Kinda what RDLS perhaps did for you.
Yet each album is something new, not to be done in the same light as the earlier albums, otherwise....boring. Some artists (Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye) all accomplish this. It's almost not realized until you step out 10 years after.
Think they said they'd be working on the album in 2013 (assuming for the 20 year anniversary). But their tour was pretty extensive. Supposed to start this Fall. So really, the earliest it could be out is next Fall (it takes a lot of time in production). But realistically longer.
They write the music. take a break. Come back to the music.
It's like raising a child!
