So here are the lyrics as I can interpret them lol. I had trouble making out a word or two so this might not be 100% correct but enjoy nonetheless!
Am I love? If your heart is beatin'?
I'm all love! Uh-can't you feel the feelin'?
Take my hand! Become like a junkie.
I'm an ice-cold man.
I'm an ice-cold man. *distorted*
Why am I cryin' for you?
All this love I've felt for you
Has gone away to another place. (It's a digital life)
I put my faith in a digital world
But they've given me eyes without a face.
I'd steel/steal the moon on server/silver lights.
Remind myself I am someone.
My soul is low and raw/wrought tonight. (I'm automaton)
I'm so tough. Uh-can't you see me runnin'?
See, I can touch. Can you feel me comin'?
I see the world and cry for freedom.
These metal eyes, they can't disguise
The fact that I need something to believe in.
But then I drug him for you!
I said goodbye to the world I knew
And took off into inner space. (It's a digital life)
Weren't you the ones who promised me
A very different place?
I've powered up, get my program set
And tilt my head toward the sun.
Inside I know, I'm null and void (I'm automaton)
Automaton (x4)
Hey, you got me down underground
Gettin' holed up in my cyber lounge
As if I had time to break that down. (Automaton)
Whatever you can do I can override/overwrite it
Got a million ways to synthesize it.
Digital android, I can fight it (Fight it out)
Automaton (It's a digital life)
Automaton (Digital life)
Automaton (A digital life)
Automaton
Feel like a man who fell to Earth
Like this is not where I belong.
They rule my life from a metal box that's windowless
And I wonder where it all goes wrong.
Maybe this dream will stay alive
But can the madness be undone?
Am I the new intelligence?
I'm automaton (x7)
It's a digital life (x2)
You know I need something I can hold onto, hold onto (You were all I knew)
I need something I can hold onto, hold onto (This was all I knew) _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it.

Nice work.
Even if those are not the exact words, I really like what it talks about.
And besides, it doesn't recycle the same chorus over and over again, which is quite refreshing. |

Thanks Dye and I agree! I have trouble with this line: "I'd steel the moon on server lights." I know that the last word rhymes with "tonight" but I can't tell if he is singing "silver lights" or "server lights". And if he means "steeling" the moon, that would be preparing it for something. At first, I thought it was "I'd steal the moon" but that doesn't seem to make sense either because how can you steal the moon on lights? It might make more sense when we see the video and get some context behind that line. Maybe his spaceship has rotating lights that blink on and off like the lights of a computer server would and he is "stealing the moon with his ship"? No clue lol. _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it. |

Thanks for posting the lyrics.
I'm really bad at hearing lyrics, and in order to make an attempt at interpreting them I have to see them written down, so for the past 3 hours I've just been enjoying the sound of the music. But now that I've got the gist of the message, I can fully enjoy the song - not just the funk, but the message too! _________________

You're welcome
I said goodbye to the world I knew
And took off into inner space. (It's a digital life)
That line right there is so powerful to me. It's sad to be honest when you think about it. So many people are self-absorbed in this digital age of tablets, phones, internet, computers, etc. We retreat to our digital lifestyles and have become cold, apathetic, emotionless, and addicted.
Also this line almost makes me think about that track from RDLS that never got released called Your Window is a Crazy Television.

This is exactly what I thought when they first showed Transmission 001 and the name Automaton, I was like "This has got to be Virtual Insanity 2.0!" _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it.

I think jay is gonna change music again, because as long as i know not many bands release songs who criticize the virtual life and technology, at least i don't remember any. _________________ Only a fool can walk away from me this time

I've just listened to it and i'm very sure to say it's an "ok" song at most. But I fail to compare and find similarities towards Virtual Insanity aside from the lyrics, nothing else, and while most people here think it reminds back to Twenty Zero One, it reminded me more from the tunes in Dynamite era. Anyways pretty generic work from them, nothing remarkable. Also i'm having trouble to verify it's viability to be played live, since the drums are machines, the arpegios, patches, there is no true bassline, and also a 5s guitar riff and this bad habit of making songs layer over layer bunched up together in a track annoys me, which comes since RDLS era.
Worth mentioning the terrible quality of the track as a whole, everything too loud and and sounding compressed, I had a lot of trouble to listen to jay's voice properly because everything else just go overkill (which is something i'm assuming it's due the radio play). _________________ At the speed of cheeba, you and I go deeper...

I agree, actually the fact that the chorus sounds very different from the verses made me think of Love Blind.

Absolutely, looks like a challenge. We'll see.
And very excited about the gig in London, will try to make it! |

Same here, I was telling my friend earlier how this track gave me Dynamite vibes, specifically Love Blind and Starchild (especially at the end of Automaton). _________________ If it ain't no natural law, then you can keep your regulations. 'Cause if I like it, I do it. |
